  • Apple CDMA iPhone 4 rumor given new wings

Apple CDMA iPhone 4 rumor given new wings

With the iPad unicorn now slain, what other beast can DigiTimes shackle its rumor mongering machine to? How about Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology (and inspiration for the ASUS company name), galloping forth with promises of a CDMA iPhone. According to the Taiwanese rumor rag, Pegatron (ASUStek's OEM manufacturing arm) will begin shipping a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 from its Shanghai plants to Apple in Q4. Right, just in time for the holiday shopping season and perfectly alligned with Apple's annual September iPod event... you know, should Apple want to announce a deal with Verizon.

  • Eric Schmidt Presides Over The Marriage Of The 50-Year-Old TV And The Teenage Web

Eric Schmidt Presides Over The Marriage Of The 50-Year-Old TV And The Teenage Web

"We've been waiting a long time for today," says Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who is presiding over a power panel of CEOs helping to make Google TV possible. The panel, at Google I/O, includes the CEOs of Sony, Best Buy, Echostar, Adobe, Logitech, and, of course, Google. He needs all of them, as well as developers, to make his new Google TV a hit. Google TV will be built into a new Sony TV coming out this fall in time for the holiday shopping season, as well a Logitech TV companion box which can be hooked up to existing TVs with an HDMI port. It is Google's attempt to bring together the 50-year-old TV-watching experience with the Web. It does that in a variety of ways, from a universal search box which searches both TV and the Web to opening up the TV as an application platform for developers and media companies to enhance their video offerings. Its ambition is to bring the Web into the TV in a new way.

The Barnes & Noble nook is officially sold out

Figures. Just yesterday we write about all the different e-books you can get your hands on this holiday shopping season, and then we get a bombshell:Barnes & Noble is 100 percent sold out of nook. In other words, if you were thinking about getting a nook for Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate) but didn't pre-order one yet, well, too late now.

Outrage? Modern Warfare 2 leaked footage shows terrorist attack at airport (and you can hurt the civilians)

Look at the AP, trying to stir up controversy where none exists. I'm sure by now you've seen the leaked Modern Warfare 2 footage (the video is down right now) that shows a terrorist situation inside an airport. The AP (and HuffPo) is making a big deal out of the fact that you can shoot civilians inside the airport. And? Are they trying to go with that weak argument, “Oh, violent video games make people violent”? How can people still believe that?

    Garmin-Asus nuvifone G60 review

Had the device you're peering at above come out just a few months later, it would've taken two full years to go from introduction to on sale. Thankfully, the good folks over at Garmin and ASUS (and Garmin-Asus, as it were) were able to get the nüvifone G60 out to AT&T before the holiday shopping season of 2009, but were they still too late? There's no doubt that this very smartphone had a lot of folks drooling in early 2007, but to say a lot has happened in the mobile realm between then and now would be doing the truth a grave injustice. The iPhone 3G has fallen to $99, a slew of Android handsets have hit the market and dedicated PND (portable navigation devices) have found themselves in the bargain bin. Oh, and some pretty fantastic GPS software has managed to land within Apple's App Store and the Android Market. In other words, competition couldn't possibly be hotter, and considering that the specifications haven't been updated on this $299 device since it was originally announced, you're probably wondering if it even deserves a chance. Read on to find out the answer.

  • Here’s the TomTom XL 335S, everyone

Here’s the TomTom XL 335S, everyone

TomTom is here with yet another GPS device. The 335S packs a 4.3-inch touchscreen and text to speech functions into a small package with a somewhat competitive MSRP of $239. But like most other GPS units, that MSRP will probably be undercut by retailers as they try to push these GPS units onto holiday shoppers. Thankfully, the XL 335S seems to be decent for that price although I couldn't tell you the difference between this $239 335S and the $249 340S. (K.I.S.S)

Verizon to announce Moto Tao next week? Phone to drop Dec. 1?

First came the rumors. Then came the leaked images. And now, 3 all-knowing (conveniently unnamed) analysts have predicted that Verizon’s long awaited foray into Android will happen some time next week with the announcement of Motorola’s Sholes/Tao smartphone. The timing seems feasible, especially considering that Motorola is holding a MOTODEV Android-related press event next Tuesday, [...]

Fun rumor says $100 price cut for PS3 coming this August (in time for Madden)

Still fretting over the price of the PS3? Well, if one analyst proves accurate, then Sony will cut the price of the PS3 by $100 in mid-August. And if “mid-August” sounds vaguely familiar to you, that's because it is! That's when EA releases Madden, a game that, somehow, still sells a boatload every year. (Note: I have never bought a Madden game. Imagine that!)
