Nexus One’s AT&T flavor is out of stock (update: it’s back)
Posted on May 26, 2010 | No CommentsWe don't mean to fire up any conspiracy theories, but the 850 / 1900MHz 3G version of the Nexus One is nowhere to be found in Google's inventory at the moment -- strange timing, considering how long it's been available and the fact that we're not coming up on a purchase-heavy season like the holidays. That said, there are a few reasonable theories: for one thing, the Nexus One (amazingly) remains the only readily-available high-end Android device that'll run on AT&T's 3G bands; two, we've heard talk that AMOLED supply is tight, which would also explain why Verizon keeps slipping the Droid Incredible's ship date for new buyers; and three, we do know that Google's looking to phase out its online store anyhow. Whatever the reason, Google says the phone is only "temporarily" unavailable, so keep the faith -- it's not like there's an easy way to get Android 2.2 on an AT&T Nexus One right now, anyway.
Update: And that was painless -- it's back in stock.Nexus One's AT&T flavor is out of stock (update: it's back) originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 26 May 2010 01:13:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Infinity Ward employees sue Activision for up to $500 million over withheld bonuses
Posted on April 28, 2010 | No CommentsWhy haven't we applied the "gate" suffix to this Infinity Ward-Activision story yet? "Infinity Gate" has a certain ring to it, sorta sounds the name of a private military company. Anyway, how would you feel if you worked for a company and you made a product. It was a successfully product, like, you made the company $1 billion in just a few months. As per your contract, you're due a certain amount of money (royalties) for your troubles. The thing is, the company says, "Hey, you know that money we owe you? We won't give it to you until you finish another product. If you leave us you forfeit all claims to that money we owe you." Not cool, no, but that's what the Infinity Ward Employee Group now claims.

LG hopes to launch their first Windows Phone 7 handset around September or November
Posted on February 25, 2010 | No CommentsWhen Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 just a few days ago at Mobile World Congress, the only sort of time frame they’d give for release was “by the Holidays”. Android 2.0 officially coming to T-Mobile G1?
Posted on December 26, 2009 | No CommentsWe don't know where this is coming from so take it with a grain of salt, but rumor has it from AndroidSPIN that the progenitor Android device, the T-Mobile G1, is destined to officially get an over-the-air update for an Eclair build, Android 2-point-something. Hey T-Mo, we know the holidays are pretty much over, but could you validate these whispers for us? Thanks!

iPhone and Vodafone UK set the date: January 14
Posted on December 21, 2009 | No CommentsVodafone has decided if it can't give us the iPhone for the holidays, it'll do the next best thing and spill details of its launch and pricing of Apple's finest. Available from January 14, the iPhone will be yours for £30 ($48) per month on two-year contracts, though up-front charges will set you back £239 ($386) for the 32GB 3GS variety. A monthly 1GB of 3G data is permitted, alongside unlimited WiFi, but what might be most interesting here is that Vodafone will allow you to use the iPhone as a modem. Such use will not be covered by your allowance of course, and will cost £5 ($8) for each 500MB downloaded, but we're happy to see a carrier offering the option. Furthermore, though Vodafone's agreement to carry the iPhone seemed a rushed defensive move, the company now claims it has been preparing its network for over a year to handle the increased traffic it expects.iPhone and Vodafone UK set the date: January 14 originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 21 Dec 2009 06:03:00 EST. AT&T and Verizon drop lawsuits, make nice for the holidays
Posted on December 2, 2009 | No Commentsdigg_url ='http://digg.com/gadgets/AT_T_and_Verizon_drop_lawsuits_make_nice_for_the_holidays'; Well well, maybe we can all get along after all: AT&T and Verizon just dropped their various advertising-related lawsuits against each other. We can't say we're surprised, considering AT&T lost its request to have Verizon's ads pulled down for the holidays -- spending money to litigate this further would have have simply been a waste, and generated even more bad PR. Now let's just hope these two suck it up and battle it out over service quality and pricing, like they should have been doing all along. Or AT&T can just make some more nonsensical Luke Wilson commercials, whatevs.
Update: Whoa, so this is crazy. We just checked out the other suit that was dismissed, and it turns out that Verizon actually sued AT&T back in July, but not for any damages -- instead, Big Red asked the court to rule that its various "Most Reliable 3G Network" taglines were actually true. That wackiness certainly explains why AT&T felt the need to push back, we suppose, and it makes Verizon's current whining over Sprint's "Most Dependable 3G Network" claims part of a larger, lamer pattern. We've included a shot of the case after the break, check it out.Continue reading AT&T and Verizon drop lawsuits, make nice for the holidays
