AT&T users can keep $30 unlimited data when upgrading phones… unless they want tethering
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No Comments
digg_url = 'http://digg.com/apple/AT_T_forces_you_to_choose_wisely_young_grasshopper'; There's naturally been a ton of feedback in the past few hours on AT&T's new data pricing strategy, and the company has been responding to comments all morning over on its Facebook page; one of the key tidbits that's come out of the discussion so far is that folks on the current $30 smartphone data plan will be able to keep that plan when upgrading hardware. Translation: yes, you'll be able to get a new iPhone without switching to the $25 / 2GB DataPro plan if you so choose. What you won't be able to do, though, is keep the $30 plan and add on the $20 tethering option -- tethering specifically requires DataPro, so your hopes and dreams of a soft 5GB cap are quashed (unless you want to pay $30 for 3GB of overage, of course).
On a related note, we've been tipped that some folks' iPad orders from Apple have been pushed back to June 7 -- an interesting coincidence, considering that's when DataPlus and DataPro go live. If true, it's likely so that Apple can pre-install new orders with updated software for managing the new plans, but it's also a preemptive strike against a horde of people trying to grandfather into the $30 plan over the next few days.

Zygor’s guides are half-off this week, World of Warcraft peeps
Posted on March 22, 2010 | No CommentsJust a friendly heads-up, gents. A few months ago, I mentioned the release of Zygor 2.0 for World of Warcraft. Zygor, of course, is an in-game leveling guide that makes going from level 1 to level 80 pretty painless. Crushingly boring and repetitive—much of the sense of adventure is lost following step-by-step, but that's the same with any strategy guide—but painless nonetheless. Anyhow, the guide is on sale this week, and if you were ever thinking about getting it, but were put off by its price, well...

World of Warcraft headphones get pricing, details
Posted on February 1, 2010 | No Comments
Creative is finally giving up some details on the World of Warcraft headset that they showed off at BlizzCon and CES. The price is a bit higher then we'd all like, with an MSRP of $159.99 for the wireless version, and $119.99 for the wired version. They do look cool though, I like the choice between the Horde and Alliance artwork lit up on the sides.

Jens Pulver: World of Warcraft maniac
Posted on January 20, 2010 | No CommentsSo I woke up this morning and logged straight into World of Warcraft, as I do every morning except Tuesdays, what with the stupid "realm maintenance" nonsense. I sold a couple of Netherweave Bags. I logged off, and soon after began another day of CrunchGear. Meanwhile, Jens Pulver, who was the UFC's first 155-pound champion, was doing the same thing. Well, except for the CrunchGear part—he was training for a fight.

Attention those of you wanting to ding 80 in World of Warcraft: Zygor 2.0 guide is out today
Posted on October 20, 2009 | No CommentsReally, really big news today for World of Warcraft players. Today's the day that Zygor's leveling guide hits version 2.0. Leveling guides are used by players to hit level 80 (or, soon, 85) as quickly as possible so they can more quickly enjoy the endgame content. Think of them like GameFAQs or the old school Brady Games or Versus Books strategy guides.

Blizzard announces new expansion, “Cataclysm”
Posted on August 21, 2009 | No Comments
Time to clear up all the rumors people. The opening ceremony at Blizzcon just ended, and it ended with a bang. Thankfully, much of the speculation has been cleared up, and we finally have some answers about the new races, new areas, and some stuff that hadn't been leaked.

Look, Batman, there’s a World of Warcraft headset from Creative coming right at us!
Posted on August 18, 2009 | No CommentsThis could be the most important week in the history of Creation. Blizzcon starts on Friday—once again Blizzard reminded me in an e-mail that I can purchase the Web stream or DirecTV pay-per-view for $40—and we're sure to be hanging on the company's every word re: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Today's hot news is that Creative will release a World of Warcraft-branded headset in November. Look for it around $100-$150.

Looks like we’ll probably be playing as Worgen and Goblin in next World of Warcraft expansion
Posted on August 11, 2009 | No CommentsWhile I haven't logged into World of WarCraft since, I don't know, February (for the Valentines Day things), a new expansion should bring me back into the fold. Most fans know that Blizzard trademarked the name “Cataclysm,” and that's what we expect the name of the next expansion to be. But now! Now, friends, wow.com's sources have pretty much confirmed two new races for the expansion. Say hello, probably, to the Worgen (Alliance) and the Goblin (Horde).
