iPhone 4’s screen may be tough, but don’t think that it’s shatter proof
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No Comments
I'm sure we all know at least 2 or 3 people that have accidentally dropped their iPhone and watched in horror as the screen shattered into so many tiny pieces. It may have even happened to you.
So, I'm sure you were pleased when Apple showed off how tough the new screen on the upcoming iPhone 4 was. I mean, they bent it like 30 degrees, fer cryin' out loud! That's like a million more degrees than the previous screen could bend, right?
But what they didn't show you was how it handled being dropped from waist height onto the ground. Three times. It took iFix your i to do that, and I've got some bad news: it didn't survive.

Gasp! AT&T stops selling the iPhone 3G because they’re “Out Of Stock”
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No Comments
The horror! Days after the Apple Store pulled sales of the iPhone 3G from their online market, AT&T has disclosed to employees the iPhone 3G is now "Out of Stock". Employees are being told to direct customers to the iPhone 3GS.
The fact that Apple's WWDC, the birth place of all new iPhones, goes down in 3 days is, of course, a complete coincidence.

The latest movie franchise to be rebooted? Mortal Kombat. Yikes.
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No CommentsDoes the world need another Mortal Kombat movie? No, probably not, but that won't stop Hollywood from attempting to exploit a license that was last hot in 1994. Word on the street is that Warner Bros. wants to, yes, “reboot” the series. (Note: You cannot reboot a dead computer, so I don't know if it's possible to reboot a dead movie franchise.) To that end it has hired Oren Uziel to write the script. You've probably never heard of Uziel, but he wrote Shimmer Lake. You've probably never heard of that, either.

Six pound Swedish Fish proves boy’s love for his sister
Posted on September 2, 2009 | No CommentsFirst there was the crazy five pound gummy bear and now we find something considerably grosser. Our own Weatherman, commenter extraordinaire, created - wait for it - a huge, disgusting Swedish Fish. Good lord. He describes it thus: I thought you’d appreciate these pics of a 6lb Swedish Fish that I made about a year ago for [...] -
The joys of playing Street Fighter with your kids (and the devastation of losing)
Posted on August 13, 2009 | No CommentsA truly delightful tale about a parent playing against his six-year-old son in Street Fighter IV. A great father-son bonding moment, the father recoils in horror as he finds out, “Wait a minute, I'm losing to my six-year-old here. Oh, God, what have I done?”
It's been a very long time since I last used a Texas Instruments graphing calculator. I thought it was cool to write programs on the TI-80 I used in college. It seems that in the time since, things have gotten a little more complex: TI calculators now have cryptographically signed operating systems! Ostensibly this is to prevent clever hackers from loading their own operating systems onto the calculators (the horror!). Leave it to the hackers, though, to find a way to do what they want!
