Verizon beats everyone at the HTC Touch Pro 2 game
Posted on September 10, 2009 | No CommentsSlow and steady wins the race, right? Verizon’s certainly not the first off the gate with the Touch Pro 2, but they definitely just took the lead in our books. Both Sprint and T-Mobile are charging a dang-near-absurd $350 bucks for theirs, with the latter adding insult to injury by not even including a 3.5mm [...] -
HTC Touch Pro 2 heads to Verizon Wireless on September 11 for $199 (after rebates, contracts, etc.)
Posted on September 5, 2009 | 1 CommentT-Mobile, Sprint, and now Verizon Wireless. Yup, the HTC Touch Pro 2 should be ready and waiting for you at your local VZW store on September 11. In what may be the first example of VZW customers getting a deal (compared to the other carriers), the phone is only $199 after $100 rebate and two-year contract.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is now available at T-Mobile. Too bad it’s $349.
Posted on August 12, 2009 | No Comments
We've heard real good things about the HTC Touch Pro 2. The 3.6-inch WVGA screen is good, the slide-out keyboard is apparently awesome and HTC once again shipped a great skin for Winmo 6.1. It's just too bad that at $349, it's the most expensive handset available at T-Mobile.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is now available at T-Mobile. Too bad it’s really $349.

It's just too bad that at $349, it's the most expensive handset available at T-Mobile just like we feared.

The Verizon Touch Pro 2 handled pre-release
Posted on August 6, 2009 | No CommentsWhat do we have here? The new hotness? mhmm. The HTC Touch Pro 2 is still a while away from being launched but somehow it was placed in front of a camera lens. Overall, it looks great with a clever eatching of the world on the backplate, a 3.5mm jack on the bottom, and a sleek design when it's closed. Hopefully the keyboard works as well as it looks. According to the tipster, Verizon will probably have the phone sometime in early September. Check the video after the jump.

Verizon Wireless slashes most smartphone prices to $99
Posted on August 3, 2009 | No CommentsHuzzah! Verizon knows what's up. The prices of its smartphones have been slashed, cut, and discounted down to iPhone 3G levels. Every single smartphone - expect for the new BlackBerry Tour and Samsung Saga - can be had for $99 or less on-contract. This means that the HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch Pro, and Samsung Omnia are now only $99 straight up. It's like Verizon is talking right to those feed up with AT&T's shenanigans.

This August, the HTC Touch Pro 2 & Samsung Gravity 2 head to T-Mobile
Posted on July 28, 2009 | No CommentsYou'll have two more T-Mobile cellphones to pick from beginning next month. There's the HTC Touch Pro2, which still doesn't have an AT&T release date (so T-Mo can lord that over AT&T), and the Samsung Gravity 2.

Review: Casio EXILIM 5.1MP camera phone
Posted on July 18, 2009 | No Comments
Lets get a few details out of the way first. The Casio Exilim is one of the most expensive Verizon phones available at $279 with a 2-year agreement. Only the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro cost more. Not only that, the Exilim is loaded with a dated OS and is rather bulky. The only selling point that this phone has is the 5.1MP camera, so that's what I spent most of my time testing.
I pitted the 5.1MP Casio Exilim against a 3.2MP BlackBerry Storm and 6.1MP Nikon D40. I would have to say that I'm impressed with the quality. It's better than the Storm and almost on par with the D40 in some of the photos. Check out the pics below to see what I mean.

HTC Touch Pro 2 for Telus gets the 3.5mm treatment
Posted on July 17, 2009 | No CommentsWhen we’d heard that HTC was making the jump to good ol’ 3.5mm headphone jacks, we were beyond excited. That said, HTC made it pretty clear that devices they’ve already announced probably wouldn’t get a last minute change - which we took to mean, amongst other things, that the HTC Touch Pro 2 wasn’t in [...] -
HTC Touch Pro2 unboxed with tempered excitement
Posted on May 29, 2009 | No CommentsIt's time for HTC's Touch Pro2 to join the ranks of every other modern phone in getting its own unboxing video. An enthusiastic PocketNow has the honors, and even goes so far as to utilize the infamous "smell test" to confirm it is in fact a genuine leather case included. Sized up to the original Touch Pro, it's got a more spread out keyboard, larger screen and thinner form factor -- all welcome additions, if you ask us. We can't imagine it being a deal breaker, but just so you know, the slide-out tilt doesn't go as extreme as its predecessor in that form factor, HTC's Titan. Living vicariously through video can be accomplished after the break -- it's not yet available stateside, but if you can't wait, there's always import.Continue reading HTC Touch Pro2 unboxed with tempered excitement

HTC Touch Pro battery goes rogue, lights up an otherwise fine pair of pants
Posted on May 21, 2009 | No CommentsJust a note to everyone who carries around a spare smartphone Li-ion in their rear pocket: buy thicker underwear. The scene you see above was all caused by an obviously volatile HTC Touch Pro battery, one that the pants-wearer claims is an authentic HTC cell and not a cheap-o alternative from eBay. As the story goes, a foul odor led him to a laundry pile, where he uncovered eight moist socks, a torched battery and a ruined pair of pants. Look, we're glad this guy's okay and all, but seriously, can you imagine what this testy little thing would've done when tossed into the dryer? It's a blessing in disguise, kiddo.

HTC Touch Pro2 for Sprint spotted in the wild, mid-June release?
Posted on May 19, 2009 | No CommentsWe've known that a version of the HTC Rhodium / Touch Pro2 was inbound for Sprint at some point this summer (assuming no delays), but would mark the first time we've seen one in what appears to be finished production trim. A SprintUsers poster claims that the global roaming-capable device should be hitting retail mid-June with the portrait QWERTY Snap following in July -- and yes, we'd be more inclined to ignore the noise had said poster not also provided the glorious pictures. Looking good -- really good, actually -- but good luck tearing any eyes away from the Pre kiosks in the stores next month, HTC.
[Thanks, David D.]
