Huawei to release T-mobile Android G3 in late 2009… probably
Posted on April 7, 2009 | No Comments
This is all starting to sound semi-official, but still a little vague. Huawei's mysterious Android device -- first spotted at MWC -- is apparently headed out on T-Mobile in late 2009, as reportedly confirmed by a Huawei spokesperson. The same details we've previously heard, including the 5 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headphone jack and WiFi -- are still on the list, though nothing new is emerging thus far. It also seems to be called the G3, but again, it's hard to say if that name is official or not. We'll let you know when we hear something more concrete, but until then... just keep marvelling at the buttonless wonder you see above.Filed under: Cellphones

Huawei’s enigmatic Android phone bound for T-Mobile in Q3?
Posted on March 30, 2009 | No CommentsTake this with some skepticism, but according to tmonews.com a "trusted source" has revealed an Android-based Huawei phone is currently being tested and heading to T-Mobile in Q3, a timeframe we heard about at MWC. Specs reportedly include a 5 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi, and Cupcake, naturally. No word on UMA, but the site claims that a certain Mr. Blurrycam is dropping off photos and more dtails in next few weeks, so we'll keep our eyes on that.Filed under: Cellphones

Huawei Android smartphones hitting T-Mobile later this year
Posted on February 23, 2009 | No Comments
Huawei's Android phone broke cover last week and while we weren't able to get all touchy-feely with it yet, we might be seeing the phone soon. Reportable, the phone set to come from T-Mobile and carry the same nameplate as the brand. Details are still developing but it seems that the touchscreen 'UPhone' (their words, not ours) will start shipping sometime in the late summer of 2009.

Shots of Huawei’s iPhone-tastic “uPhone” Android phone
Posted on February 16, 2009 | No Comments
This can't end well. We stopped by Huawei's MWC09 booth to ask about their previously discussed Android phone and were presented with what you see here. Now, we're not ones to yell "iPHONE CLONE!!!!" at every phone with a touchscreen - but come on, seriously?

Android Cupcake spied, tasted
Posted on January 23, 2009 | No Comments
The T-Mobile G1 has an update in the works. When the firmware will be available to owners is the main question after most of the details leaked out of the kitchen. Cupcake, as it's been dubbed, should improve the look and the feel of the OS. The buttons should pop a bit more, there is a new transition when opening and closing apps, but most importantly is the new virtual keyboard. That particular new feature doesn't seem to provide much function in the physical keyboard-equipped G1, but hopefully the G2 or the upcoming Huawei handset will take full advantage of it. Early screenshots after the jump.

Huawei’s Android phone to be shown next month
Posted on January 22, 2009 | No Comments
Huawei's Android handset might drop during the original first half of 2009 time slot instead of the 3Q 2009 some reported. The maker will at least show it off at next months Mobile World Congress, with production hopefully starting shortly there after. *fingers crossed* We don't have any other details including if the phone will be a touchscreen-only, keyboard-equipped, or the price, but at least we know it runs Android. How well will be determined next month at MWC.
