It is morning in America: GeoHot tells of untethered jailbreak that could work on iPad

Web video star GeoHot just did a quick demo of his untethered iPhone/iPod Touch jailbreak. That’s right – you just have to put something on your device – and not directly connect it to your computer – and it will jailbreak that heck out of it in a few minutes. It’s just like the old [...]

Peek has some “big stuff” in the works even though it’s short on cash

"Big stuff that will blow away folks. Not just an awesome “Peek for Life” promo. But really, truly big stuff. So stay tuned for Project Big Stuff." That's a direct quote from Peek's official blog after stating flat out the company is short on cash even though they make a decent amount of revenue. Of course Peek could probably raise a bit more if absoulity necessary, but we're curious what the company that brought us the email-only, and more recently Twitter-only, device is working on.

Sprint Moment and Hero to get Android 2.1 in “the coming weeks” [Updated!]

See that image above? It’s notable for two reasons: I’m fairly confident it takes the much coveted title for “Hardest to read leaked document ever”. It, in all of its tiny text, confirms that the Sprint HTC Hero and Samsung Moment will be upgraded to Android 2.1 soon. Update: We’ve now got a more legible picture and a [...]

Here's an interesting item, from artist Sascha Pohflepp. It's called Blinks and Buttons, and it's a "blind camera." Possessing no lens and no viewfinder, the "camera" still takes a picture when you press the big red shutter button.

Wobble iBoobs jiggles its way out of the Apple app store

It’s no surprise that Apple’s approval and rejection process for iPhone apps can be completely arbitrary and often asinine. Take Wobble iBoobs, for instance: the application has been on the market for several months and has even earned about $300,000 in sales, but after Apple “recently received numerous complaints” from customers, the app was pulled. The ATI Radeon 5450: Eyefinity on the cheap (like $50 cheap)

ATI just released a new, super entry level graphics card that should placate, well, not hardcore gamers, but most regular people. It's the Radeon 5450. Like other 5000 series cards, it works with Eyefinity, meaning that you can spread the image across several screens, as this image swiped from Tom's Hardware shows.

Vinyl Android figurines are the coolest things since sliced ice

Okay, look. I wasn’t going to post about these, because every bit of attention these things get will make it that much harder for me to acquire them before they sell out. But then this little nagging voice in my head (which sounds like a freakish cross between CrunchGear editor John Biggs and my mother) [...]

Ever wondered what an image would sound like?

rgb-music-failWe found an interesting little blurb about a software program that converts images into music. Specifically, it "converts the RGB, Red, Green, and Blue, values of every pixel of an image and plays a 3 note harmony based on the RGB values. It reads the pixels from top left to bottom right playing a song a long the way." According to señor willburns1 on his blog (link), "most of the time it seems like set a child loose on a piano but it is sometimes pretty cool."
