HTC Glacier, LED, and Vision among next round of vague codenames?
Posted on May 20, 2010 | No CommentsStart that wild imagination of yours running, because you're going to need it to make sense of this little tidbit. A tipster who claims (and gives us visual evidence as proof) that he was able to root out HTC product names like Incredible and Legend months before release on some sort of internal component bidding site has sent us a new shot showing three names we haven't heard before: "Glacier," "LED," and "Vision." Vision is listed with "TMO" next to it, suggesting it's coming to T-Mobile -- though we've no idea whether that's referring T-Mobile's European or American branch, which typically operate with virtually zero overlap. Glacier sounds like a phone that's either really slow, really cold, or is rapidly disappearing due to environmental forces beyond HTC's control, and LED sounds like... well, Light Emitting Diode. Yep, your guess is as good as ours.

Voyager 2 likely suffering from “flipped bit syndrome”
Posted on May 19, 2010 | No Comments
The Voyager 2 transmission hiccup appears to have been identified. The problem? "A value in a single memory location was changed from a 0 to a 1," said JPL’s Veronia McGregor. As I've said countless times to end users complaining about "computer problems": computers are all ones and zeroes inside, and who can tell what will happen when a one unexpectedly becomes a zero, or vice versa? Kudos to everyone at NASA for identifying the problem, and making plans to reset Voyager's memory so that its on-going mission may continue!

Leaked Windows Phone 7 ROM filename suggests an HTC Mondrian?
Posted on May 15, 2010 | No CommentsThe lads and lassies at XDA-Developers made an intriguing discovery this week: a leaked 100MB file that might be the first Windows Phone 7 ROM actually destined for a device. What's more, it could possibly reveal details about a phone we barely knew existed -- the filename references an "HTC Mondrian." At best, the contents might reveal wonders beyond imagination, including full specs, bundled apps, even the tools needed to properly shoehorn WP7 onto your existing HTC handset. At worst, the community might never open the blasted file, or discover it's all a clever hoax. There's really no indication either way, so we prefer to dream. If you think you've got what it takes, try cracking the ROM yourself at our source link.Leaked Windows Phone 7 ROM filename suggests an HTC Mondrian? originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 15 May 2010 14:08:00 EST. Posted on April 9, 2010 | No Comments
Hey now now, what's this? On top of the previously discovered references to front-facing cameras and iChat within the iPad SDK, evidence is now appearing that suggests iChat -- likely with video conferencing -- will make its way to iPhone OS 4.0.

Your Comments Are Safe With Us
Posted on February 6, 2010 | No Comments
About half an hour ago, a post that was published on the Digital Inspiration blog hit Techmeme. The title of that post left little to the imagination: it read “TechCrunch Removes Reader Comments From All Older Blog Posts”.
That allegation in itself is inaccurate, as is most of the rest of the article, so I felt compelled to respond quickly and offer our side of the story. Which, on a sidenote, we weren’t asked for by the person or people behind the blog (at least not to my knowledge).

Dell netbook modded into a rather large handset (video)
Posted on December 31, 2009 | No CommentsEager to get a hold on your very own Dell-branded Android smartphone? This guy here took matters into his own hands with nothing more than his modding skill, his imagination, and a Dell Inspiron Mini. Of course, this thing won't exactly fit in most pockets, but as a curiosity (and a conversation starter) it performs admirably. Have you ever seen a 10.1-inch novelty handset in action? Now's your chance -- peep the video for yourself after the break.Continue reading Dell netbook modded into a rather large handset (video)

Motorola to introduce eight OPhones on China Mobile next year, celebrate intensely
Posted on October 15, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Software, Motorola, China Mobile, Android
Motorola may be pinning its comeback hopes on the CLIQ here in America, but it obviously has some rather large plans for the world's largest carrier, too. An admittedly perplexing report has surfaced purporting that the creator of the iconic i776, er, RAZR, is fixing to distribute not one, not two, but eight OPhones to China Mobile next year. For those unaware, OPhone is an Android-based OS tailor made to operate on the aforesaid carrier and cater to its customers, and to date, quite a few other manufacturers have jumped on board over there. Sadly, no actual details about the eight Moto handsets were given, so it looks like it's just you, a cup of joe and your hyperactive imagination for the time being.Motorola to introduce eight OPhones on China Mobile next year, celebrate intensely originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Thu, 15 Oct 2009 03:36:00 EST. Video: Live action Super Mario Bros. on India’s Got Talent
Posted on July 13, 2009 | No CommentsI don’t know if this is more talent or imagination, but it’s fun to watch either way.

Are you ready for your Windows Mobile 6.5 update, Sprint HTC Touch Pro2 owners? You should be -- given that every other carrier threw 6.5 on the Pro2 months ago, you're probably champin' at the bit by now.
