Your first 3D PS3 games launch tomorrow, including Wipeout HD
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsOK, Wipeout HD is a fine, fine game, but how will it look in 3D? Probably disappointing, if only because it's going to have to be run in a rubbish resolution in order for the PS3 to create the stereoscopic image. Kvetching aside, Sony will release four stereoscopic 3D games for the PS3 tomorrow: Wipeout HD, Super Stardust, PAIN, and Motor Storm Pacific Rift. You will, of course, need a 3D TV to appreciate the extra dimensionality.

Targeted at "professional users", these TVs are bigger. Much bigger.

Dell’s 7- and 10-inch tablets appear right on schedule
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No Comments
It looks like Dell has been quietly toiling away at a whole family of tablets and not just the 5-inch Streak shown off post-CES 2010. There are 7- and 10-inch version in the works, too. It's not actually a surprise per se as we doubt anyone really believed that Dell's only tablet offering would be a small 5-inch guy.

Not 3D but pretty, too: Sony’s seven new LCD TVs
Posted on March 9, 2010 | No CommentsGranted, the seven new LCD (non-3D) TVs Sony announced [JP] in Japan today are not as sexy as their 3D counterparts, but they are worth mentioning, too. The new BRAVIAs break down into three series, the NX800, the HX700 and the HDD-equipped BX-30H. In contrast to the 3D TVs presented today, Sony didn't go into details regarding international sales plans for their 2D models.

Toshiba to roll out REGZA TVs with built-in Blu-ray players
Posted on January 14, 2010 | No Comments
Toshiba's first Blu-ray recorders are on their way, and the company also announced [JP] new TVs with built-in Blu-ray players today. While these TVs are nothing new (in Japanese stores, at least), it's the first time for Toshiba to offer devices like this. A recording function would have made sense, but you can only watch Blu-rays on the TVs. At least, it's possible to connect external hard discs via USB and record video on those.

Posted on December 29, 2009 | No Comments
More competition is the color E-book market can only be a good thing. The Nook is just sort of in color, the Kindle is the 800 pound gorilla, no one knows what exactly Apple's got planned, and now there's this new guy Paradigm Shift, talking about launching a full-color e-book reader at CES. Bet they wish they'd come to market before the holidays.

Gateway EC series ultraportables are basically Acer Timelines that say ‘Gateway’
Posted on October 19, 2009 | No Comments
Let's say you’re intrigued by Acer's new Windows 7 Timeline ultraportables due to ship out this Thursday but you like saying “Gateway” more than you like saying “Acer” for some reason. You'll be happy to know that Gateway (which is owned by Acer, by the way) has just announced two ultraportable computers that are spitting images of two of the recently-announced Timeline machines: an 11.6-inch model and a 15.6-inch model.
It's hard out here at
