DIY: the laser jacket
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No Comments
So somehow, you've ended up with 200 laser pointers. What on earth do you do with 200 laser diodes? Well, you could combine them all into one super laser and write your name on the moon. Or you could find 200 sharks and.. never mind. Or, you could wire them all together into a jacket, and wear it to the mall. That's it!

Yes~! There will be Independence Day sequels, Will Smith will be all over them
Posted on March 31, 2010 | No CommentsNice, another sci-fi movie story. 'tis a grand day, indeed. The story is a two-parter: one, there will be an Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3. That's insane enough. Two: Will Smith will be in both. Loving the creativity coming out of Hollywood these days.

The Astro A30 headset is for the rich or insane
Posted on March 16, 2010 | 1 Comment
How much are you willing to spend on a so-called portable gaming headset? $50? $100? How about $150? Anyone? What if I told you that it would also work with your computer as well as your iPhone, PSP, and Xbox Live account? Still no one? Yeah, that's what I thought.

HTC to sell 8 handsets through T-Mobile alone in 2010?
Posted on January 12, 2010 | No CommentsMaking 8 different handsets is no big feat — Hell, Samsung will probably launch 4 or 5 by the time I’m done typing this post — but getting 8 handsets onto one carrier in one year? Not too shabby. That’s what HTC will be doing in 2010 with T-Mobile, says one of Boy Genius’ boys. It’s [...] -
LG goes insane, wants to buy back their phones for 10 grand each
Posted on September 29, 2009 | No Comments
Okay - either LG accidentally plopped military secrets onto a handful of devices, or they're looking to start a Golden-Ticket-esque hunt for their handsets. The Korean manufacturer has just offered up $10,000 to anybody who can bring them a handset with any of the following serial numbers:

Crazy Eddie was really insane, but not in a good way
Posted on July 17, 2009 | No CommentsGiz has some great videos from Crazy Eddie, the guy who went nuts in New York and New England back in the 70s and 80s, selling home appliances and CE to a trendy and naive audience. It’s interesting to note that Crazy Eddie could have been lying about his low-low prices. In an era where the [...] -
Mr. Blurrycam takes new iPhone’s features for a test drive? (updated)
Posted on May 30, 2009 | No CommentsThere are two sides to this coin, the way we see it. On the one hand, the handful of pictures that have just popped over on UMPC Fever demo many of the features we're expecting to see in new iPhone hardware this summer -- magnetic compass, autofocus camera, video recording capability, and a battery percentage meter in the status bar. On the other hand, having a good feel for those rumored features makes it that much easier to mock up ridiculously blurry shots of 'em in action. The compass seems a little overdone, but then again, it's not necessarily out of place considering the direction Apple has taken its voice recorder app in 3.0, so we're going to play the cautiously optimistic diplomat here and say these could very well be real.
Update: We've swapped the top pic and added some larger, clearer looks after the break. It's possible that we might be looking at two new variants of iPhone hardware here. Note the difference in styling between the phone on the right and the phone on the left? Well, if we're to believe what we've heard about the future of the line, these could be the first photos of what Apple has in store for WWDC. The model on the right might easily be that matte version we've heard about... but that thing on the left? We have no idea, though it would be an insane move on a counterfeiter's part to fake something so bizarre. What we mean is: it's almost too weird to be fake.
