Posted on June 22, 2010 | No Comments
Japan's newest electric car isn't made by one of the nation's many major automakers, but sometimes it needs a venture to accelerate potentially positive developments in rather conservative industries. Boutique automaker Mitsuoka Motor has now begun accepting orders [JP, PDF] for "Like" [JP], a 5-seat electric car that's based on Mitsubishi Motors's i-MiEV (the Like was unveiled earlier this year).

UFC’s Dana White throws down, vows to go after Internet pirates no matter the cost
Posted on January 11, 2010 | No CommentsDo not expect UFC to look the other when it comes to online piracy of its various pay-per-view events. Dana White, the company's president, recently told the Vancouver Sun that he and the UFC will do whatever it takes to eliminate piracy. "It’s gonna cost us a lot of money, but guess what, it’s gonna cost them [pirates] a lot of money. It’s gonna get to the point where it’s like, fuck it, maybe we shouldn’t pirate MMA anymore." This is not a very forward-thinking way of looking at the problem, no.

Dream Cat Venus: Sega Toys to roll out creepy animal robot
Posted on July 6, 2009 | No CommentsSega Toys Japan is pretty active when it comes to developing toy robots. They are the company behind the E.M.A. (aka the kissing robot) or the A.M.P. (aka the music robot). But Sega Toys is also selling a lot of animal robots, for example a robo-hamster, baby biddies or a puppy. Their newest robotic animal is called Dream Cat Venus [JP, PDF]. Sega Toys has been selling life-like (well, almost) robo-cats in Japan for about 3 years now. And Venus (designed like a Norwegian Forest Cat) is an upgrade for an older model called "Smile". Sega Toys says it's the right choice for people with no time to look after a real animal.

Posted on June 25, 2009 | No Comments
