Motorola Droid X for Verizon official: July 15 for $200
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No CommentsThere was little about the mighty Droid X that we hadn't already known -- but for what it's worth, Verizon and Motorola have teamed up today to expose everything we want to know about the next Android beast for Big Red. The 4.3-inch 854 x 480 handset features Android 2.1 with an all-new UI skin, a TI OMAP3640 processor galloping along at 1GHz, HDMI out, 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 720p video capture, and 8GB of onboard storage with expansion of up to 32GB (you get a 16GB card in the box) all stuffed in a package 9.9mm thick. Software wise, you've also got an integrated mobile hotspot with support for up to 5 devices connected over WiFi, DLNA support, and a legit multitouch keyboard with Swype built-in. It won't launch with Froyo, but that'll come later in the Summer as an upgrade along with Flash 10.1 support; the phone will be available on July 15 for $199.99 on contract after rebate, while the mobile hotspot service will run $20 extra a month with a 2GB cap and 5 cent per MB overage (data consumed on the phone itself is unlimited). Mirroring AT&T's move with the iPhone 4, all Verizon customers with upgrade dates in 2010 will be pulled up so they're eligible for the Droid X as soon as it's available. Follow the break for the full press release.Continue reading Motorola Droid X for Verizon official: July 15 for $200

TRON controllers will be available for purchase
Posted on June 22, 2010 | No Comments
Rejoice user! Devin won't be keeling over from auto-eroticasphyxiation after all. The TRON controllers that he saw at E3 and threatened to hold his breath over? Well, they are going to be for sale. To be honest, I haven't considered replacing my stock Xbox 360 controllers until this point, but now I'm afraid I have no choice. -
Droid Xtreme (or X, or Shadow, or whatever it’s called) caught on camera yet again.
Posted on June 11, 2010 | No Comments
Man - is Motorola just giving out new, unannounced handsets to everyone they see carrying a camera? Between the Droid Xtreme, and the Droid 2, the number of leaks is starting to get silly.
With that said, keep'em coming! Today's latest batch of leaked goods comes in the form of gloriously sharp shots of the Droid 2's keyboard-less brother, the Droid Xtreme.

Motorola Droid 2 gets some proper spy shots (and spy video!)
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No Comments
Take that keyboard-only shot of the Droid 2 we saw last week, and the blurry face shot we saw yesterday. Put'em together. What do you get? Proper, mostly blur-free spyshots of the next Droid, keyboard and all.

Video: BlackBerry 9670 clamshell and BB OS 6.0 demoed
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No Comments
While not the first video appearance of our peculiar clamshell friend, the BlackBerry 9670, this latest hands-on is the most extensive.
Clocking in at a combined 12 minutes, Driphter have uploaded two videos of the new device, which I've embedded for you, after the break.

Motorola A955 Droid 2 teased, definitely different from the Xtreme
Posted on June 8, 2010 | No CommentsTelling the blurry spy shots apart and keeping the codenames straight as we lead up to this Android duo from Motorola for Verizon next month has been next to impossible, but we think we're getting the hang of it here. What you're looking at above is apparently the A955 Droid 2, a phone whose keyboard we saw a little while back. That's opposed to the Xtreme -- which may or may not also be known as the Shadow -- that's been leaked a handful of times in the past couple weeks and clearly looks different than the A955 from the front. If anything, the Droid 2 looks like a streamlined, possibly chromed version of the original Droid, which would make a lot of sense seeing how it's being called... well, the Droid 2. Verizon, would you please step in here, make some announcements, and clear up all this confusion?Motorola A955 Droid 2 teased, definitely different from the Xtreme originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 08 Jun 2010 21:39:00 EST. Motorola Milestone XT720 announced: 8 megapixel cam, 720p video, and Droid heritage (update: video!)
Posted on June 7, 2010 | No CommentsMotorola has just outed a Europe-bound Milestone XT720, a handset intended to grab the attention of camera lovers with an 8 megapixel sensor, 720p / 24fps video and -- a first for Android handsets -- a xenon flash. Speaking of Android, this will come loaded up with version 2.1 when it launches later this month. Plans for 2.2 upgrades are, as usual, not yet formalized and not under discussion. Other specs include a 3.7-inch, 480 x 854 screen, a 550MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, and a promised 9 hours of talk time and 320 hours of standby time. It looks very much like Moto's selection of Droid-esque handsets that have been prowling the Chinese market, and it seems the company has enjoyed success with the keyboard-less form factor and is pushing it out to Europe. US release plans are also not being discussed -- it might happen and it might not, seems to us like it'll depend on the Euros' reaction. We're just getting to grips with the handset right now, and will furnish you with video of it as soon as we can.
P.S. We're told this handset is closer to the Motoroi than anything else, Motorola describes them as sister devices. We also spotted a network update from Orange on the demo handset, implicating it as a possible carrier for the XT720 in the UK.
Update: We've now got Motorola's full press release plus a promo video after the break, as well as some comparison pics between this new handset and the original Milestone in the second gallery below.
Update 2: And we've just added our hands-on impressions and video, you know where to find them.Motorola Milestone XT720 announced: 8 megapixel cam, 720p video, and Droid heritage (update: video!) originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 07 Jun 2010 04:00:00 EST.
