AT&T adds Verizon’s Island of Misfit Toys holiday ads to lawsuit, demands they be yanked off the air
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: ATT, Verizon Wireless
Well, you knew this was coming -- AT&T's amended its advertising lawsuit against Verizon to include Big Red's new holiday ads, including that oh-so-cute Island of Misfit Toys spot, and demanded that they be taken off the air. At question is the same map of AT&T's 3G coverage used in the other commercial, which Ma Bell says misleads customers into thinking it has no service at all in large swaths of the country. Best part? AT&T's lawyers had to describe the ad in their new filing, leading to passages like this:
Happy holidays, folks. The spotted elephant, in a surprised manner, asks the iPhone "What are you doing here? You can download apps and browse the web!" and a Dolly for Sue asserts that "Yeah. People will love you [the iPhone]."

Android ROM modder gets Google’s lawyers in a tizzy
Posted on September 25, 2009 | No CommentsIf you’ve rooted and modded your Android phone you’ve probably found Cyanogen, one of the best sources for modded Android ROMs out there. Android ROM modded gets Google’s lawyers in a tizzy

If you've rooted and modded your Android phone you've probably found Cyanogen, one of the best sources for modded Android ROMs out there. All of his ROMs are stable, usable on the G1 and MyTouch, and well-designed.
Google, however, takes issue with him releasing closed-source Google apps like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube and has sent him a cease and desist. They're not particularly mad about the ROMs, mind you, just the apps inside them.

Tokyo’s Lifesize Gundam Robot Is Big Enough to Squash Your House
Posted on July 10, 2009 | No CommentsToy Story can suck it. The Japanese didn’t need computer animation to bring this toy to life. Pictured above, a lifesize Gundam robot in Tokyo stands at a gawk-worthy 59-feet tall. The robot looks even more impressive when it lights up at night (pic and video below the jump). Now all they have to do [...] -
One more thing: The Palm Pre syncs with iTunes
Posted on May 28, 2009 | No Comments
Per a Fortune blog, the Palm Pre syncs "seamlessly" with iTunes. It's not that shocking considering there are apps that add this functionality to many MP3 players and smartphones. However, this is the first phone besides the iPhone of course that has this ability out of the box. Don't expect to load your iTunes Music Store purchases on the phone as it can't handle the DRM. Your what.cd downloads will work fine though.
