Nikon patents strange LCD screen
Posted on April 29, 2010 | No Comments
Patents are always so much fun, and such a source of random speculation. Take for example this new LCD display from Nikon. What could it be? Is it for a DLSR? Maybe for video? No one knows, and of course Nikon isn't talking, but it's interesting to put your best guess out there.

Panasonic goes live with the DMC-G2 & DMC-G10 pricing
Posted on April 19, 2010 | No Comments
We already knew everything about the DMC-G1 and DMC-G10. Panasonic announced them back in early March and revealed their 12.1 MP sensors, 3-inch LCD screens, and 720p video modes. But the press release back then didn't mention anything about pricing. Don't you hate that? We do.

Yanko’s camera concept protects the delicate bits
Posted on April 6, 2010 | No Comments
Yanko is known for their off the wall concept products that never actually materialize. Why do we tell you about them? Because my boss tells me to write them up. Maybe he hopes that someday, one of these products will actually exist. Because you know, dreams can come true.

PS3 goes portable (kind of) with Hori’s LCD screen dock
Posted on April 6, 2010 | No Comments
This is something gadget modder Ben Heck might have thought about, but if yes, Japanese game peripheral maker HORI (which also sells stuff in the US) was faster this time. The company today announced [JP] a portable LCD screen, which, once attached to the top of a PS3 Slim, makes the console (somewhat) portable.

Digital camera is half-inch thick, costs $25
Posted on March 12, 2010 | No Comments
Welcome to the future of digital photography, friends. This $25 camera measures 13.5 millimeters thick and takes what I can only assume to be mind-blowingly detailed 640x480 photos. That’s not all! The built-in memory holds 52 images! There’s no expansion slot but like I said, it holds 52 images. You’re not going to need an expansion slot, am I right?

The original iPad: The Cambridge Z88
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No CommentsRetrothing has a paen to the Cambridge Z88, a clever little device made in 1987 that ran for 20 hours on four AA batteries. I honestly don’t know of a single device I own that can run that long. Besides a word processor you also had a version of BASIC built-in and a nice little [...] -
Handheld PS3 device for fanbois to cuddle at night
Posted on December 31, 2009 | No Comments
So here's a somewhat interesting gadget. Instead of converting a PS3 into a hand-held device, a crafty modder named techknott built a custom transmitter. The transmitter allows a player to not only control their PS3 remotely, but also to view the output on a small video screen.

LifeBook MH380: Fujitsu’s new netbook with Pine Trail processor
Posted on December 22, 2009 | No Comments
Intel's Pine Trail Atom processor (1.66 GHz Atom N450/unveiled earlier this year) is one of the key elements in the LifeBook MH380, Fujitsu's latest netbook. The MH380 has a 10.1-inch glossy LCD screen with LED backlight, 200nits brightness and no less than 1,366x768 resolution. What's quite unique design-wise is the tiny circle area (next to the trackpad), which enables circular motion scrolling.

The Logitech Harmony 300 might be the last
Proving once again that duct tape is capable of almost anything, here's a little DIY project for you. It looks fairly simple to build your own projector, even if it's not particularly aesthetically pleasing.
