  • Lenovo LePhone unboxed, exhaustively reviewed ahead of launch in China

Lenovo LePhone unboxed, exhaustively reviewed ahead of launch in China

We're not sure how we missed this one, but it's better late than never -- turns out some lucky jerks in China were given a Lenovo LePhone to play with back in mid-April, and the guys at Sooyuu have just finished the fifth and final part of their lengthy review, just in time for the May launch. We weren't expecting any changes since our last encounter at CES, but apparently the 3.7-inch screen's now been upgraded from LCD to AMOLED, and like the Palm Pre, the LePhone also sports a gesture area below the screen. Of course, there's also the never-before-seen packaging that we totally dig, not to mention the bundled goodies such as a leather case, a noise-isolation handsfree kit (but sans music and volume control), plus a magnetic dock adapter. As for software, the reviewer praises Lenovo's snappy, heavily customized Android with its vast Chinese social networking service integration, music store, video apps, and an impressive Chinese turn-by-turn navigation suite. We almost want to adopt this baby, only to be let down by its 3.2-megapixel camera's mediocre quality, lack of flash, and inability to autofocus. Anyhow, you can be the final judge -- head over to Sooyuu for plenty more pictures.

  • BookBook wraps your Macbook in old leather

BookBook wraps your Macbook in old leather

Finding a case for your computer is easy. Finding one that unique and still protects your computer can be a whole different story. Sure, leather is nice. Neoprene protects really well, and there are assorted other products that will protect your Mac Book, but they all look the same. Here's your chance to use something that's custom and unique - the BookBook. Based on the concept of hiding in plain sight, the BookBook case resembles an antique leather bound book, age and distressed by years of contact.

Vertu V makes no concessions: $730 BT headset, $490 card reader, and $330 ballpoint pen

Because nothing says "I ain't afraid of no recession" like plopping down an excess amount of Benjamins for a Bluetooth earpiece, Vertu has unveiled its V accessories collection. $780 gets you a Bluetooth 2.1-compliant earpiece with 6 hours of charge time (same one we saw hit the FCC recently, we suspect), $490 for a USB memory card reader that as a consolation prize comes with a 2GB microSD card, and as for the ballpoint pen, asking price is a cool $330. For all three purchases, it's recommended you purchase the special leather case for protection -- and if these gifts are already comfortably in your price range, hey, why not?

    [Thanks, Shayjd]

  • Ultra-limited edition Nokia N97 mini RAOUL launched for Nokia Singapore

Ultra-limited edition Nokia N97 mini RAOUL launched for Nokia Singapore

Nokia's teamed up with fashion house RAOUL for a special, limited edition N97 mini. The leather-heavy pack will contain a stripe-emblazoned N97 mini with a custom designed Fashion Asia widget and a calf-skin leather case. The whole shebang will come in a leather bound RAOUL box. The production will be limited to just 1000 units (sort of good news for the calves, we suppose), so if you live in Singapore and want to get one, we'd suggest getting a move on: they're up for pre-order right now for 400 euro -- about $589.

Omnia II Millionaire Pack: For people who like to pay a little more to pretend they paid a lot more

We’ll come right out and say it: we’re not entirely sure why this Samsung Omnia II Millionaire Pack exists. For roughly $957, you get what is essentially the same phone plus a leather case, a copy of Millionaire magazine, and.. a box. “Why wait? Get the millionaire feeling”, it reads. Er – what? Look: We loath [...]

Wired.com Reader’s Leather Case Caused Discoloration on His iPhone

It’s appearing more likely that discoloration of some white iPhone 3GS units is due to contact with certain third-party cases rather than overheating. Wired.com reader Charles Sola sent a photo of his discolored iPhone (right) and concluded that the cause was a leather case (below, right) he bought off eBay. “This is a very important information [...]

  • HTC Touch Pro2 unboxed with tempered excitement

HTC Touch Pro2 unboxed with tempered excitement

It's time for HTC's Touch Pro2 to join the ranks of every other modern phone in getting its own unboxing video. An enthusiastic PocketNow has the honors, and even goes so far as to utilize the infamous "smell test" to confirm it is in fact a genuine leather case included. Sized up to the original Touch Pro, it's got a more spread out keyboard, larger screen and thinner form factor -- all welcome additions, if you ask us. We can't imagine it being a deal breaker, but just so you know, the slide-out tilt doesn't go as extreme as its predecessor in that form factor, HTC's Titan. Living vicariously through video can be accomplished after the break -- it's not yet available stateside, but if you can't wait, there's always import.
