Sony sales numbers reveal surging PS3, waning PSP

Sony just released the numbers from the last fiscal year (April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010). The good news (for Sony and its shareholders, at least) is that PS3 sales were up quite a bit from the previous year, going from 10.1 million sold to 13 million this year. The bad news is that PSP sales have hit a bump in the road, going from 14.1 million in to 9.9 million. Translating those numbers into English, that means that the PS3 is doing a heck of a lot better than it ever was, and that the PSP, well, isn't.

Video: Discarded Motorola RAZR3 Prototype Gives a Glimpse Into The Moto That Could Have Been

Back in 2008, after milking the poor cash cow to death, Motorola decided to can their once crazy-popular RAZR series of phones. A good thing, too, as their Android line of phones are really quite good, and have helped them climb out of the dreaded red end. But today over on Slash Gear, a prototype RAZR3 has risen from the grave to show us a twisted world where Motorola feature phones were the hotness, and smart phones were only for the geeks and their pocket protectors (like me...). It's quite chilling.

webOS Gets A New And Much Improved Facebook App

Update: Added a few screenshots - check'em out after the jump! At long last, webOS has been granted a Facebook application worth its weight in kilobytes. A completely revamped version of the Facebook application has just gone live in the Palm App Catalog - and boy, is it an improvement. Palm has offered some level of Facebook support on webOS since the launch of the Pixi - but as we noted in our Pixi review, calling what it had "Facebook support" was probably exaggerating. You could sync your Facebook contacts, read your news feed, and.. well, that's it. The new app, however...

HTC announces the Nexus One’s slightly cooler twin, the Desire

What's in a name? Would a Nexus One by any other name still be as sweet? Yep. In fact, it might just be a bit sweeter. Though it lacks almost any indication as such, Google's Nexus One is actually made by HTC. HTC reserved the rights to the hardware design, and today they're making good use of that decision with the announcement of the HTC Desire. It's essentially the Nexus One reflavored to HTC's liking.

  • How would you change Motorola’s Droid?

How would you change Motorola’s Droid?

The anti-iPhone. The phone that "does." The first Motorola device that we've seen in years that's downright awe-inspiring. Naturally, we're referring to the Droid. VZW spent all kinds of money to hype up this Android 2.0 handset as the phone to get if AT&T's 3G coverage was just too weak for your liking, and it seems to have been at least decently effective. We know the phone had its fair share of quirks right off the bat, but we're happy to say that most of those nuisances were taken care of via firmware update. Still, we know geeks, and those suckers are never happy. If you were in charge of redesigning this thing, what aspects would you tweak? Is the slide-out QWERTY up to snuff? Is the display crisp enough? Are the transitions snappy enough? Do you wish it was impossible to turn off the "Droid" sound emission each time you received an email? Dish out your hot fury below.

Like clockwork, BlackBerry Bold 9700 gets ColorWared

Nothing says "I do not accept the normal social conventions of a business-oriented mobile device; I do, however, accept its software and lovely keyboard" quite like sending your BlackBerry in for a retina-burning ColorWare job. It's been done before, it's being done now, and it'll be done until pigs rule the sky -- and if you're craving the latest and greatest way to shock your colleagues when you reach into your double-breasted suit coat's inside pocket, look no further than the recolored Bold 9700. There are fully six different components that can be independently colored to your liking, and we hear that Mike Lazaridis loses 60 seconds of sleep every time one of 'em gets painted something other than black, so get to it -- it'll run you $159 plus the cost of the phone itself.

Zune HD, powered by Nvidia’s Tegra

There's a reason why the Zune HD's interface moves so smoothly. Powering the device is the Nvidia Tegra, which Nvidia recently described as an “an entire computer-on-a-chip,” and one with “eight separate processors, including: a GPU, two video processors, and audio processor, two ARM core processor and more.” (That “and more” bit is a bit ambiguous for my liking, but what are you gonna do?) In any event, the Zune HD looks to have some serious computational power going for it. WILL IT BE AN IPOD KILLER?
