KT brings the Nexus One to South Korea, complete with Froyo
Posted on June 17, 2010 | No CommentsThe Nexus One may have taken a little while to reach South Korea, but it looks like KT is doing its best to make up for lost time -- the carrier has just announced that it will not only be offering the Nexus One, but that it will come complete with Android 2.2 (a.k.a. Froyo). True to Nexus One form, you'll be able to snag the phone off-contract for 699,600 won (or about $576), but you'll also be able to get it for just 150,000 won (or $125) on a two-year contract. Not many surprises beyond that, but it looks like supplies will be limited to just 4,000 units for the June 21st launch -- although KT promises it will be readily available at stores across the country in July.
[Thanks, Tom]

Steve Jobs at D8: Foxconn, iPhone prototype, TVs, and more
Posted on June 2, 2010 | No CommentsIn case you hadn't heard, Steve Jobs got downright conversational last night at D8, riffing on questions from Walt, Kara, and the attending audience of elites. You can hit up the entire liveblog for a timestamped play by play, or browse through some of the highlights below.
- On TV: 'no one wants to buy a box'
- On Foxconn: 'We're all over this'
- On lost iPhone 4G prototype: it's an 'amazing' story
- iPhone OS 'started on a tablet'
- 'There might be' advantages to two iPhone carriers in US
We put some extra scintillating quotes after the break to shield the eyes of your children. Just a note, however: all of these are paraphrased quotes typed live as Steve was speaking, and not to be construed as the verbatim Word of Steve Jobs, though the gist is certainly there.Continue reading Steve Jobs at D8: Foxconn, iPhone prototype, TVs, and more

Sound ID 510 Bluetooth headset coming to AT&T in June
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No Comments
I've used a number of Bluetooth headsets, and I really tried to make myself comfortable while wearing them. None of them have been quite comfortable enough for me, and I feel like I'm missing out on sounds around me when the piece is sitting dormant in my ear. Perhaps the new Sound ID 510 headset, coupled with the EarPrint App, will solve my concerns.

The best Lost rant on the Internet
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No Comments
I already made my feelings known about last night's Lost. It was pure garbage and didn't answer a damn thing besides the fact that the writers are clearly taking the easy way out. I read a bunch of rants online today expressing the same feeling but this one by Jacob Hall on SciFi Squad is the best. Seriously. He nails it.
**Major spoilers ahead**

A graph: How much sense Lost makes
Posted on May 12, 2010 | No Comments
Last nights Lost episode left me confused, bewildered, and frustrated. I mean, what the hell was that? I was sure I understood 75% of the show's happenings last week, and while I'm still confident I know how it's going to end, last night's episode totally screwed up the show's continuity for me.
Anyway, that is all. The graph is the post. It's supposed to be funny and would be if it wasn't true. Click through to supersize.

Motorola is in the black and selling phones
Posted on April 29, 2010 | No CommentsNow here’s a turnaround I never expected. According to a recent results filing, Motorola is working its way back into solvency and is turning a profit and shipping devices like crazy. The company took a slight loss in mobile sales – about $192 million – but that’s far lower than $550 million last year. In truth, [...] -
Apple Continues To Morph Into The Chocolate Factory. Expect Fewer Gobstopper Leaks.
Posted on April 28, 2010 | No Comments
Lost iPhone prototypes aside, most Apple leaks tend to come from partners companies tasked with helping to build something Apple needs for a particular product. After all, Apple can't do it all, itself. Well, not yet anyway.
A report today in the New York Times confirms earlier rumors that Apple has purchased Austin, Texas-based chip company Intrinsity. And yes, it appears that company is the one largely behind the new A4 chip found inside the iPad. An analyst put the price at $121 million, but again, he's an analyst, so who knows.

Open thread: WTF is going on with Lost
Posted on April 14, 2010 | 1 Comment
John and I are fed up with Lost. We don't know what the hell is going on anymore. The show is supposed to be wrapping up soon, but each new epsisode presents more questions than it answers. We need some help. Here are our two biggest questions we're hoping someone can answer.
1: Is island Desmond the same person as alternate-reality Desmond. Like are they of one mind and conscience?
2: What job are the Losties applicants for? It doesn't make sense that it's Jacob's role because then Jacob would have had to know he was going to die in order to qualify and observe certain people their entire life. So what's going on here?
We have so many other questions like who that boy with the stick was and how/why the island had the big gear underground, but it's those two that are bothering us the most. Help?

Government Accountability Office: Don’t believe piracy studies because they’re wicked flawed
Posted on April 14, 2010 | No CommentsYou know how you read stories that say the U.S. loses X-amount of jobs per year due to piracy, or that this or that industry loses zillions of dollars per year because of piracy? The Government Accountability Office just released a new report that says that all of those reports are flawed and are completely worthless. In other words, the next time you hear the MPAA say “Downloading that DVD rip will ruin the movie industry” you can safely say, “Really? Where's the proof

Fourth Gen iPhone Almost Certainly to be Announced June 22
Posted on April 14, 2010 | No Comments
"Hey. You. Come over here." A scraggly female voice rang out from the bushes.
I looked over at the gypsy, half hidden by the shrubbery.
"Why?" I asked. The last time I did what a gypsy said I almost lost a kidney, so this time I wanted to be careful.
"I have something to tell you. Something the world will want to hear."
Intrigued, I moved toward her. She raised her ancient arm, revealing her globular cliché (a crystal ball). I found the slight glow enticing. I peered deep. And all was revealed.
Through the fog I could see a man in a black turtle neck. A calendar on the wall behind him clearly read June 22 2010. He was holding what looked to be an updated iPhone.
