Zygor’s guides are half-off this week, World of Warcraft peeps

Just a friendly heads-up, gents. A few months ago, I mentioned the release of Zygor 2.0 for World of Warcraft. Zygor, of course, is an in-game leveling guide that makes going from level 1 to level 80 pretty painless. Crushingly boring and repetitive—much of the sense of adventure is lost following step-by-step, but that's the same with any strategy guide—but painless nonetheless. Anyhow, the guide is on sale this week, and if you were ever thinking about getting it, but were put off by its price, well...

Vodaphone’s $15 phone for the developing world

The mood in Barcelona must be somber, for the city's team lost to Atletico Madrid yesterday. Granted, Atletico Madrid is Barcelona's bogey team, but come on, Atletico Madrid?! Team CrunchGear could beat those guys on the pitch. Still, the Mobile World Congress soldiers on. Here's something that caught my interest—something aside from the Windows Phone!—is the Vodaphone 150. It's for the developing world.

Sprint applies pressure, but still bled quite a bit in fourth quarter

Over the past few years, Sprint has definitely given itself a facelift and now has excellent pricing plans and some decent handsets. Sadly, things aren't turning around as quickly as Sprint would like since it has been showing some tremendous losses the past few quarters. The fourth quarter, however, shows that Sprint is slowly but surely easing its way to where it wants to be.

AT&T and Verizon drop lawsuits, make nice for the holidays

digg_url ='http://digg.com/gadgets/AT_T_and_Verizon_drop_lawsuits_make_nice_for_the_holidays'; Well well, maybe we can all get along after all: AT&T and Verizon just dropped their various advertising-related lawsuits against each other. We can't say we're surprised, considering AT&T lost its request to have Verizon's ads pulled down for the holidays -- spending money to litigate this further would have have simply been a waste, and generated even more bad PR. Now let's just hope these two suck it up and battle it out over service quality and pricing, like they should have been doing all along. Or AT&T can just make some more nonsensical Luke Wilson commercials, whatevs.

Update: Whoa, so this is crazy. We just checked out the other suit that was dismissed, and it turns out that Verizon actually sued AT&T back in July, but not for any damages -- instead, Big Red asked the court to rule that its various "Most Reliable 3G Network" taglines were actually true. That wackiness certainly explains why AT&T felt the need to push back, we suppose, and it makes Verizon's current whining over Sprint's "Most Dependable 3G Network" claims part of a larger, lamer pattern. We've included a shot of the case after the break, check it out.

Google Maps Navigation officially comes to Android 1.6

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gadgets/Google_Maps_Navigation_officially_comes_to_Android_1_6'; You might've thought that Google was positioning its industry-changing Google Maps Navigation as a value proposition for Android 2.0 and beyond, but yeah, not so much -- instead, they've gone ahead and backported it to 1.6 (alias "Donut") which means that T-Mobile's myTouch 3G and G1 plus other 1.6-equipped devices across the land can get in on the action. In the case of the memory-starved G1, that's especially surprising, and a heartening sign that the world's first retail Android device still has some fight left in it. It's available from the Android Market now, so go ahead -- try to get yourself lost. We dare you.

BlackBerry Pearl 9100 revealed, has lost its gemstone but not its luster

BlackBerry Pearl 9100 revealed, has lost its gemstone but not its luster
The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 was, and still is, a lovely little phone, QWERTYfied, pocketable, and rocking that little milky trackball that gave it its name. There's finally a true successor coming down the pipeline (the flippy 8230 not really counting) though it ditches the iconic pearl for a now-standard (and hopefully more reliable) touchpad. There's a similarly swoopy SureType keyboard and the overall dimensions look very much the same, meaning this should fill the tiny BlackBerry void once again -- whenever it ships.

Update: But of course the original 8100 also had SureType, not QWERTY.

    [Thanks, Alex T]

Control your Benz with an iPhone or BlackBerry app

Hughes Telematics has created an app, mbrace, that will give lucky owners of certain Mercedes-Benz models the ability to control numerous functions of their car. Say your Benz is lost in a parking lot full of BMWs and Jags, the app can help you find your way. You can even unlock the car right from your phone, although you should probably wait until you're within eyesight to do so. The app can also contract roadside assistance or emergency services if you run out of gas or get into an accident. But there's a catch; it's not included in the price of the car.

NEC apparently plans to roll out touch screen business hand-held

The yet to be named device features three main buttons and a 7 to 8-inch LCD display (which appears to be a touch screen). Sorry, the small picture is all that's available at this point.
