Android’s daily shipment rate jumps up to 65,000 per day
Posted on May 14, 2010 | No CommentsBack in February of this year, Eric Schmidt used his keynote at Mobile World Congress to disclose an interesting tidbit: between Google and their hardware partners, they were then shipping a collective total of around 60,000 units per day. Not too bad, right? Its gotten even better. In a shareholders meeting yesterday, Eric took the time to [...] -
AT&T scheduling Palm Pixi Plus, Vu Plus, and others for early June launch?
Posted on May 11, 2010 | No Comments
So we know the Pre Plus is hitting AT&T this coming Sunday -- but what about its little brother? We're hearing that AT&T has lined up the Pixi Plus for a June 6 launch for $49.99 on contract after rebate, $100 less than it'll be charging for the Pre Plus -- in other words, you'll be able to get a Verizon Pre Plus or an AT&T Pixi Plus for the same price, and the latter won't include free mobile hotspot service. Voodoo math aside, we've got a few more goodies in here for you: the aging LG Vu will apparently be replaced on June 6 with a Vu Plus model for $149.99 on contract with rebate, Samsung will re-up the rugged Rugby with the Rugby II for $129.99, and Pantech's Pursuit swings in for $49.99. It all makes for an exciting June, does it not?

Next webOS update pinned down for late May or early June
Posted on April 30, 2010 | No Comments
If you're already up and running on webOS 1.4.1.1, it's time to lay off of the Update button for a while. Palm just sent out an alert to developers detailing their plans for the next minor update -- and as long as our math isn't failing us, the dates work out to somewhere at the end of May or the beginning of June.

China Unicom, Huawei rolling out ‘3G Inn’ femtocell service
Posted on December 16, 2009 | No Comments
China's carriers still have their work cut out for them to deliver wide-area 3G services nationwide, but they're already looking to get into the business of augmenting that coverage with femtocells -- probably not a bad strategy, considering the time and money involved in erecting towers in every nook and cranny of the country. China Unicom -- the carrier using UMTS as its 3G weapon of choice -- has partnered up with Huawei to deliver its 3G Inn femtocell solution that promises up to 7.2Mbps downstream. That's about 7.1Mbps faster than Verizon and Sprint's Samsung-sourced units, by our rough math -- of course, those older Sammies are 1xRTT-only, so it's good to see that newer units are stepping on the gas around the world. Right now, 3G Inn's only rolling in Beijing, but the carrier looks to eventually expand the service around the country.China Unicom, Huawei rolling out '3G Inn' femtocell service originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 16 Dec 2009 12:05:00 EST. CrunchDeals: The Palm Pre Touchstone for only $29.99
Posted on June 23, 2009 | No Comments
The Palm Pre Touchstone got raked over coals when it first launched after someone did a little math and discovered the massive mark-up that the $70 accessory carried. Well, Amazon is selling it for only $29 which is a lot better. There is a little trick to get it for this price though.

If you have a Costco membership and three computers that you want to upgrade to
