Review: iFrogz Timbre earbuds w/mic and Luxe case for iPod touch

DSC_0806 Short Version: What we've got here is a failure to communicate iFrogz's Timbre headphones w/mic and their iPod touch 2G & 3G Luxe case. In a nutshell, the Timbre headphones (which work with both the iPhone and iPod touch) provide decent audio playback, a reasonably comfortable fit (thanks to the three different ear bud choices), and the convenience of a built-in microphone for voice memos, Skype, etc albeit for the slightly higher than desirable price of $49.99. As for the Luxe, it is mediocre at best with a suspect design and very little going for it, especially considering it runs $29.99.

The xpPhone runs Windows XP and will probably be produced

There is a good amount of quiet hesitation about the xpPhone around the interwebs this morning. It seems that everyone wants to believe that the xpPhone will make it to market, but it almost seems to good to be true. The specs list an unspecified AMD Super Mobile CPU powering the system and it will be configurable with a wide range of SSD and HDD options. But best of all, the company lets you select the 3G module needed for either AT&T, Vodafone, or Orange. That is, of course, assuming the xpPhone will actually be produced even though you can pre-order one today.

Heartbeats by Lady Gaga: Garish headphones for the pop star in you

Say what you will about Dr. Dre, but the man is a hip-hop legend. Say what you will about Lady Gaga, but she's terrible. So you can either consider the fact that “Heartbeats by Lady Gaga” was just announced as one of two things: a callous cash grab, attempting to earn (?) more money while Lady Gaga is still popular, or... no, that's the only reason these things exist.

  • White-Fi brings WiFi to unlicensed TV spectrum

White-Fi brings WiFi to unlicensed TV spectrum

uhfThe terribly named "White-Fi" is a research effort to bring WiFi transmission to the unlicensed TV spectrum -- the so-called "whitespace" (get it? White-Fi!) of TV channels in the UHF band . Big whoop, right? Well, with transmission ranges up to 1 kilometer, that actually is a pretty big deal. Mesh networking is also in the works. But most interesting of all are the requirements that the FCC has imposed on White-Fi devices to make sure they don't interfere with any television broadcasts or wireless microphones. Basically, any White-Fi device needs to immediately switch frequencies the instant it detects a signal from a television or microphone.

Developed by a team of researchers at Honda Research Institute and other Japan-based organizations, the robot is capable of imitating human movements like wiping or moving objects from one place to another.

    Nikon D3000, D300s get pictured

Well, well. We told you that Nikon was going to launch two DSLR cameras this summer. These two are probably them and we need to point out that Nikon is getting good "leaking" pics of unannounced cameras. The last time around, everyone and their brother knew about the D5000 before it was official. This time we're seeing the D300s - which we already know about - and the also unannounced D3000.

Nowhereelse found a video of a young man playing Super Mario Brothers with, of all things, a theremin. By moving his hands over the rods Mario jumps, moves, and twists. Think of it as Natal but for fans of old sci-fi movies and participants in Flaming Lips mass on-stage bacchanals.
this guy made possible to play Super Mario Bros (NES) with an old Theremin instrument! Two peoples can also play together, one controls left and right and the other controls jump. It's also possible to control the game with the voice or any sounds (with a microphone).
