Does the Notion Ink Adam stand a chance against the iPad?
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No Comments
It kinda sucks to be a tablet maker right now, what with that new kid on the block coming out with a new product to compete. I'm talking of course about the Notion Ink Adam vs. the iPad. When you start to compare between the two, the differences become obvious - but will they be enough to sway the Apple faithful away?

HTC patent shows a new, spring-loaded clamshell design
Posted on February 5, 2010 | No CommentsHTC’s no stranger to stuffing ridiculous mechanisms into smartphones. I mean, have you seen the HTC Tilt — or better yet, the HTC Universal? Looks like they’re at it again, if this just unearthed patent is any indication. The graphic above may be a bit confusing, so here’s how it works: Imagine a clamshell phone, like the [...] -
Seagate to announce new ultra-thin drives at CES
Posted on December 10, 2009 | No Comments
Seems like Seagate is trying to make up for some lost time in the storage technology field. After a late entry into the SSD market, Seagate may be getting a jump start on the ultra-thin drive market. One of the issues with the new ultra-thin generation of notebook computers is the hard drive size. You can only make a computer so thin before you run into issues with the thickness of the components.

Motorola’s MT710 OPhone for China makes us dream of Droids without keyboards
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Motorola, China Mobile, Android
While it's busy trying to rebuild market share on the backs of Android-powered devices in North America and Europe, Motorola's already got a bustling business in China, so it makes sense that they'd want to contribute some Google juice over there as well. That dovetails nicely with China Mobile's Android-based Open Mobile System -- which runs those so-called OPhones -- and Motorola has yet to bring an OPhone to market, so that's where this little beast appears poised to come into play. The MT710 is said to feature an 854 x 480 display clocking in at 3.7 inches and 3G support (using China Mobile's up-and-coming TD-SCDMA network), but beyond that, little is known; it's said that Motorola will intro a total of seven Android models in China over the next year, though, and this is clearly one of them. Shave three or four millimeters off the Droid's girth with this puppy, and count us in.

The Future: 3.3mm-thick Samsung TV
Posted on October 26, 2009 | No Comments
If you think about it, you'll probably only need to hang your flat panel TV on the wall once. Maybe twice. Maybe three times if you really move around a lot, like in the middle of the night when you hear a knock on your door and thank god you slept in your clothes because there's only enough time to put on a pair of Velcro shoes and grab your 40-inch TV.

Digital monkey wrench costs $323, tells you when bolts are tight
Posted on July 28, 2009 | No Comments
Ho-ly crap. For $323 plus $20 shipping you can get a digital monkey wrench that tells you when whatever bolt you're tightening is tight enough. All these years I've been relying on the old "it doesn't turn any more, so it must be tight" rule.

Exclusive: MoGo Talk Bluetooth headset for iPhone folds down to 5mm thin — we’re giving 50 away, plus a 30% discount
Posted on June 9, 2009 | No CommentsAh, the Bluetooth headset. Often times, it’s the bane of any cell phone owner’s hands-free existence. You’re too cautious to stick it in your pocket because it’ll get caught up in your keys and covered in lint, so you forget to bring it with you. Or if you have it with you, it’s never charged [...]
