Kin skin for Windows Mobile 6.5 leads to more questions than answers
Posted on June 18, 2010 | No CommentsHow would we like to replace the UI on our Windows Mobile 6.5 phone with the Kin UI? Well, we never really thought about it, we suppose... and frankly, we're not sure why anyone else did, either. Alas, KinLauncher is here, delivering a pretty authentic Kin-esque home screen but not much else -- as soon as you touch anything, you'll be dumped back into the cold comfort of WinMo (or Sense, as the case may be). It's available for download, if you're really into that sort of thing -- but if you'd rather enjoy the carnage from a safe distance, there's a video after the break.Continue reading Kin skin for Windows Mobile 6.5 leads to more questions than answers

T-Mo: Every phone is free on June 19
Posted on June 15, 2010 | No CommentsIn honor of dear old Dad, T-Mobile is offering every phone free-as-in-beer at their stores. Considering that iDay is only a week or so away, I’d worry about uptake on this offer but if your Dad is one of those weird types who doesn’t let you watch TV or use the Internet and instead is [...] -
T-Mobile gearing up for free phone promo on family plans next weekend?
Posted on June 12, 2010 | No CommentsSo it looks like T-Mobile has something special in store for Father's Day, and if you've had your eye on any of the pricier gear like the HD2 or the myTouch 3G Slide, this might be a prime opportunity to get in on the action. TmoNews has scored what appears to be a script for a commercial that'll be airing ahead of the 19th, whereby you can get any phone in the store for free on one day only by switching to a family plan. What's not clear is whether you'll need to add another line when you make the switch, but we'd imagine -- some of these phones are crazy expensive off-contract, and just like any of the countless BOGO offers that Verizon likes to push, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Still though, if you were looking to add a line for the fam anyhow, this'll likely be the cheapest way to do it.T-Mobile gearing up for free phone promo on family plans next weekend? originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Sat, 12 Jun 2010 20:09:00 EST. Shock: Students using mobile phones to cheat
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No CommentsThere was a report on the local news here yesterday about students using their mobile phones to cheat in school. My first reaction was, yeah, duh. Kids have been cheating in school since the beginning of time. The tools they use to cheat isn't all that interesting. Whether it's writing answers on the palm of their hand, filling a graphic calculator with programs to automatically perform physics equations, using Google on their iPhone to check Wikipedia, or simply whispering to the kid behind them, students cheat. Not exactly breaking news there.

Orange Power Wellies convert all that dancin’ to juice for your mobile
Posted on June 7, 2010 | No Comments
We're coming upon festival season again, and you know what that means -- Orange is dragging their solar energy tent to Glastonbury. This year, prepare to charge your mobile phone while checking out the acts at the John Peel Stage, courtesy of your new Power Wellies. Developed in partnership with GotWind, the soles of the boots collect heat all day and, using something called the Seebeck effect, this heat is converted into electricity -- electricity that can be used to recharge your phone later that night. As if you needed an excuse to dance in the first place! PR after the break.

T-Mobile Garminfone looks confirmed for June 2 release
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No CommentsIt seems that your wait for Garmin's first T-Mobile-bound phone -- the aptly-named Garminfone -- might be a short one. We'd already known it was coming in June for $200, but this shot here makes it sounds like June 2 is the date you should start lining up in front of the store at four in the morning (we kid, we kid) for your shot at arguably the best turn-by-turn experience available on an Android phone today. You can get over the lack of Froyo and a 3.5mm headphone jack, right?

Confirmed: Motorola i1 will be Boost Mobile’s first Android phone
Posted on May 24, 2010 | No Comments
Back at CTIA 2010, Motorola announced the world's first rugged Android handset with iDEN push-to-talk functionality: the i1. At launch, Motorola was only willing to spill the beans on one carrier who'd be getting the handset: Sprint.
We just unearthed some pretty irrefutable proof that someone else will be getting the i1: Boost Mobile. Yep -- say hello to the first pre-paid Android handset in the US.

Video: Yup, that’s Everquest running on a Motorola Droid
Posted on May 21, 2010 | No CommentsThe most important part of a mobile phone’s lifespan is when it’s hacked to run old video games. Few games are more classic than Everquest, the game that brought the MMO to a mass audience. I think that’s fair to say. Anyhow, today’s the Droid’s...
