Posted on June 24, 2010 | No CommentsMedal of Honor, also known as Modern Warfare With Beards, has a public multi-player beta that's happening right now. It's exciting! (But not as exciting as seeing Italy knocked out of the World Cup.) GameTrailers has a couple of videos of the multi-player beta in action that may interest you. Hey, at least it's not iPhone 4-related!

What’s the deal with Red Dead Redemption?
Posted on May 23, 2010 | No CommentsRockstar’s Red Dead Redemption came in the mail on Tuesday, and my first course of action was to call the Ron and Fez Show on Sirius XM. “Hey, guys, I see your names in the credits. You rock!” Calling the show and talking to East Side Dave (by the way, SAVE DAVE) and Ron was [...] -
Video: This is a 22-megapixel MacBook Pro
Posted on May 21, 2010 | No CommentsAnd I thought my new monitor was fancy! (It certainly cost enough...) Here we have a plain ol' MacBook Pro using a series of 28 projectors to create a 22-megapixel display. That works out to 7168x3072. Borderline insane, yes.

PSN Premium rumor has the Internets shaking in its boots
Posted on May 18, 2010 | No CommentsIn my lower moments I can be found browsing various message boards, watching mere children argue over what video game console is superior, the Xbox 360 or the PS3. No, I'm not lying, sad as that may be. Eventually the PS3 supporters whip out this gem: "Yeah, well at least we don't have to pay to play online," which is a clever dig at Xbox Live's $50 price tag. Don't tell them this rumor, then: Sony will unveil a PSN Premium at E3 next month, and it will cost money.

Monstrous Steam deal this weekend: Civilization IV and all its expansions for $10
Posted on May 7, 2010 | No CommentsQuick note, friends. One of the better Steam weekend deals in recent memory is live right now. It’s Civilization IV and all of its expansion packs for $10. That’s pretty much ridiculous any way you look at it. (Oh, and Modern Warfare 2 multi-player is free this weekend, if you’re into “that.”) -

Halo: Reach multi-player beta is really quite fun
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No CommentsI spent a few hours last night playing the Halo: Reach multi-player beta. (Microsoft sent out a few early invites to writing-guys like me, but the beta opens to Halo: ODST owners today.) It's been a while since I've played a Halo game for any real amount of time. I dabbled with Halo 3's multi-player for a little while there, but that was two years ago. First impression of the Reach beta: absence makes the heart grow fonder. CrunchGear: your home for old man idioms.

Infinity Ward employees sue Activision for up to $500 million over withheld bonuses
Posted on April 28, 2010 | No CommentsWhy haven't we applied the "gate" suffix to this Infinity Ward-Activision story yet? "Infinity Gate" has a certain ring to it, sorta sounds the name of a private military company. Anyway, how would you feel if you worked for a company and you made a product. It was a successfully product, like, you made the company $1 billion in just a few months. As per your contract, you're due a certain amount of money (royalties) for your troubles. The thing is, the company says, "Hey, you know that money we owe you? We won't give it to you until you finish another product. If you leave us you forfeit all claims to that money we owe you." Not cool, no, but that's what the Infinity Ward Employee Group now claims.

Changes: PC enthusiasts to make up less of PC gaming market
Posted on April 10, 2010 | No CommentsThe changes in PC gaming mean that, by 2013, "PC enthusiasts" will only account for 30 percent of the dollars spent in the field. Right now, "PC enthusiasts" account for nearly half of every dollar spent, or 46 percent. Enthusiasts are people who read all those hardware sites with meticulous benchmarks and who have no problem dropping $300 on a motherboard or graphics card. I guess that makes me an enthusiast.
