Dual SIM watchphone gives us two reasons to be non-plussed

Oh, the humble watchphone... we've seen a few iterations, but very few that we'd wear for anything but a laugh. The gang at eSales China are offering a slight twist on the typical fare by throwing in dual SIM cards behind the 1.3-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, 2 mp camera, microSD card, and GSM850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 support. Sold? We weren't either (not for $128 at least). Feel like a good laugh? Get a closer look after the break.

Boost Mobile confirm release date for crazy-tough Motorola i1: June 20th

Weehee! The missing piece of the Motorola i1 puzzle has now been placed, courtesy of an ad shown during the Indianapolis 500: the device will be released June 20th. The device is Boost Mobile's first Android offering (and arguably their best phone yet), and is also the first Android device to offer iDEN push-to-talk functionality. The biggest selling point of the device, however, is that it conforms to Military standard 810F, making it dust-, shock- and rain-proof.

Video: Chunky BlackBerry 9670 flip phone

While it may not be the best lookin' BlackBerry I've seen, I'm sure there are at least a few of you out there that get a kick out of the blend of classic mid-naughties BlackBerry stylin' and retro non-touch clamshell form factor. C'mon, there's a few of you, isn't there? Well, in the hopes that there is, I've gone and found a video of this most unholy union.

The BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G hit the web a bit early [update: now official]

Oh well. Even though The Street announced RIM’s two upcoming phones a bit early this morning, it still doesn’t take away from their appeal. Suits, corporate types and anyone that takes mobile email seriously should take notice. These two are nice. The Bold 9650 seems to be a trackpad-equipped Tour loaded with 802.11b/g, GPS, a 3.2 [...]

Microsoft Germany goes live with Kin 1 and Kin 2 specs

We got our first good look at Microsoft's upcoming smart feature phones -- the Kin 1 and Kin 2 -- a week back. While the company let us man-handle the phones, Microsoft was quiet about the actual specs. But Microsoft Germany apparently thought that was silly and just released all the technical info on the two phones via its Facebook Fan Page. How nice.

The Leica V-Lux 20 gets official

There isn't much to say here. We already knew that the Leica V-Lux 20 was going to be a DMC-ZS7 clone with the same 12.1 MP 25-300mm lens arrangement, GPS, and 3-inch LCD. And we were really close on the price, too, stating that it would retail for €549 where in fact it's coming with a €499 MSRP. So yeah, there isn't much to say here but you may wanna click through to view a gallery of the sexy matte black shooter.

Panasonic goes live with the DMC-G2 & DMC-G10 pricing

We already knew everything about the DMC-G1 and DMC-G10. Panasonic announced them back in early March and revealed their 12.1 MP sensors, 3-inch LCD screens, and 720p video modes. But the press release back then didn't mention anything about pricing. Don't you hate that? We do.

Lawmakers have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to technology

Oh. My. God. Over in the UK, they're in the process of passing the Digital Economy Bill, which three seconds of research suggests is analogous to the DMCA here in the U.S. Better people than I have already written extensively about why it's Truly Evil, but this is pretty funny. "Copyright owners are currently able to go on-line, look for material to which they hold the copyright and identify unauthorised sources for that material. They can then seek to download a copy of that material and in so doing capture information about the source including the Intellectual Property (IP) address..." Pretty sure "IP" stands for "Internet Protocol," but what are you gonna do?

The HD JVC Everio GZ-HM550 lets smartphones control functions via Bluetooth

The JVC GZ-HM550 brings a new set of standards to the table. It isn't the 1920 x 1080 recording or 9 MP stills. Nor is it the 32GB internal flash memory with an SD/SDHC card slot playing backup or even the Konica Minolta HD lens. Nope, it's the novel Bluetooth function that might make a full size camcorder relevant again in a smartphone world.

  • The $75 iPod levy that will solve all of Canada’s problems

The $75 iPod levy that will solve all of Canada’s problems

Apparently it's illegal in Canada to copy music from a CD you bought to an iPod (or whatever). It's simply not allowed, even if you're not breaking any DRM in the process. (In the U.S., it's illegal to copy a DVD to your computer's hard drive because you have to circumvent the copy protection in the process.) Solution? Some sort of levy, which would ensure that "artists" make money even though you're not re-buying their music.
