Samsung to follow up the ultra cheap Corby with the even cheaper Corby Pop
Posted on December 18, 2009 | No CommentsSamsung already managed to get the Samsung Corby down to a surprisingly dirt-cheap price tag, packing in a 2.8" touchscreen, 2 MP camera, and FM radio for less than $200 bucks -- unlocked, and without contract. It seems that wasn't enough, however - according to the latest whispers from the rumor mill, they're aiming even lower. According to Unwired View, Samsung's cracking away at a new uber-cheap handset called the Corby Pop. There aren't any pictures of the Corby Pop yet - in its place, please accept this picture of a ham sandwich.

The Casio EX-G1 is for the fashion-conscious outdoorsy types
Posted on November 18, 2009 | No Comments
A quick glance at the Casio EX-G1 doesn't revel that the camera is a rugged-type model. It's just too good looking. But then you might start to notice that the dials are recessed and reinforced and the case seems like it could work underwater. (it can) It's just that Casio managed to out a 12.1 MP ruggedized camera that's actually a looker.

Windows Marketplace now available for Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1
Posted on November 16, 2009 | No Comments
Long before Windows Marketplace launched on Windows Mobile 6.5 as Microsoft's answer to the App-Store-Craze, we knew it would be extended down into Windows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 - the only question was "When?. The answer, it seems, is today.
Microsoft has just announced that the Marketplace is available to 6.0 and 6.1 users beginning immediately.

The Leica M9 leaks out early which is probably for the best
Posted on September 7, 2009 | No Comments
Leica has a big event scheduled for this Wednesday where the M9 was likely going to be announced. But it just so happens that Apple also has a presser booked for the same day, along with a bunch of companies at the audio video expo, CEDIA. So it's probably best for Leica that a Photography Bay tipster sent the site an official-looking brochure that lists all the specs of unannounced M9.

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj’s launch has been pushed to October
Posted on August 31, 2009 | No Comments
Sorry, folks. If you've been anxiously awaiting the launch of the Nikon Coolpix S100pj projector camera, you're going to have to wait a little longer. The original plan according to the press release was to bring the camera to the market in September, but that doesn't seem to be the case any longer. Now the camera is going to launch on October 23rd.

Best Buy leaks Samsung Instinct HD details
Posted on August 23, 2009 | No CommentsWell, that’s a nice change of pace. We generally have to turn to UK handset retailers to spill the beans on new phones ahead of schedule; this time around, it’s Best Buy with the loose lips. Early this morning, a listing for the thus-far-unannounced Samsung Instinct HD appeared on Best Buy’s online outlet. They weren’t nice [...] -
Nikon goes official on the S640, S570, S70 and S1000pj Coolpix
Posted on August 3, 2009 | No CommentsSurprise! New Nikon cameras! Oh, yeah, these cameras already leaked out yesterday like Nikon cameras tend to do as of late. The only thing not announced was the US price, but our estimates were pretty darn close. S1000pj Features a front-facing projector that can make a 40-inch picture at 6 feet 12.1 MP 5X wide angle zoom ISO from [...] -
DXG dresses up the camcorder, releases the Luxe Collection
Posted on July 28, 2009 | No CommentsI’m taking a wild guess that these camcorders are not for the average CrunchGear reader. Right? But maybe our reader’s wifes/gfs/moms would appreciate them more. The DXG Luxe Collection is basically your average DXG HD camcorder styled after some designer handbag. I mean, they aren’t bad cameras as they can record up to 8 hours [...] -
Video: This is what Sweden’s Pirate Party is all about
Posted on July 23, 2009 | No CommentsProbably the name needs to change, but Sweden's Pirate Party has its heart in the right place. It doesn't aim to give everyone the right to download the latest Modest Mouse album from privatetorrents.com all willy nilly (as the Huffington Post implies), but rather to reform copyright laws so that they accurately reflect the 21st century. And as you may already know, the party had its first European MP elected in the most recent elections.

Samsung outs the SL720 & SL502: 720p-shooting, 12.2 MP digicams
Posted on July 14, 2009 | No Comments
Samsung has some budget digital cameras for ya. The pair packs the same 12.2 MP sensor along with 5x optical zoom. What sets them apart however is that the PL70 is equipped with a 28mm wide angle lens where the PF55 has a standard 35mm lens. Plus the PL70 has digital and optical image stabilization instead of the PL55's digital stabilization. And if that wasn't enough, the SL720 can shoot 720p video. (get it, 720?)

Oh Lord No. LG Shows 12MP Camera Phone
Posted on July 9, 2009 | No CommentsHey, LG. Didn’t you get the memo? The one that said ”12 megapixels is enough? In a real camera? We guess not. LG now joins Samsung in the “prestigious” 12 megapixel telephone category with its prototype Louvre, which we presume is named for the Paris museum and not the slatted wooden door. The portable telephone also [...]
