Nokia 3711 flips its way onto T-Mobile
Posted on November 5, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Nokia, T-Mobile, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS
Say "AWS-compliant Nokia" and the first thing many folks are going to be thinking about right now is the mighty N900, but yeah, that's not what T-Mobile's getting around to launching today. Instead, it's the 3711 that we first met back in early October, offering a QVGA primary display, 2 megapixel camera, GPS, and FM radio in a smooth little clamshell package that'll run $69.99 on an Even More contract after rebate or $159.99 on Even More Plus. It's available now -- just don't expect to be running Maemo on this bad boy and you should be fine.Nokia 3711 flips its way onto T-Mobile originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Thu, 05 Nov 2009 16:41:00 EST. Nokia N97 firmware 2.0 hits the tubes, is ready for your attention
Posted on October 27, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Software, Nokia, Symbian
Got an N97? Yeah? Reckoned that Nokia has forgotten about your loyalty and moved all of its focus onto the N900? Fret not, dearest early adopter -- the engineers in Espoo are making good on a promise to clear out lots of bugs in the aforesaid handset with firmware 2.0, and if we're seeing this right, it's available now to download all over the world. We know, you 5800 owners are clamoring for the same type of TLC, but for now it looks like the pricier sibling is getting its due. Hit the read link and get your download going, and make sure to report back on your kinetic scrolling experience, cool?

Rumor: Nokia working on a keyboard-less N920?
Posted on October 15, 2009 | No CommentsDon’t let today’s news of Nokia’s financial failures troubles fool you. Just because the mobile powerhouse isn’t raking in profits at the moment, doesn’t mean the Finnish giant has stopped working on future devices…at least according to Pocketables. Unlike its soon-to-be-released sibling, the N900, the rumored N920 will supposedly be keyboard-less, but will make up for [...] -
Nokia makes Qt port to Maemo 5 and N900 official (video)
Posted on October 9, 2009 | No CommentsHey developers, Nokia's got a special treat for you today. It just announced the official port of the community-driven Qt for Maemo project. That means a common framework for writing native applications (and web apps and services thanks to Webkit integration) across Maemo 5 and future Maemo 6 releases, Symbian, and Windows Mobile. That's a broad reach in terms of devices (including the hotly anticipated N900) and marketshare and a smart move by Nokia in an era where devices are differentiated not by hardware and OS but by their ability to run apps and connect to web services. A "technology preview" release is available now and scheduled for final release (based on Qt 4.6) in Q1 of 2010. Click through for a wee taste.

Nokia Rover/N900 gets caught on camera, preview coming soon.
Posted on August 19, 2009 | No Comments
There it is, folks, in what appears to be final form: the Nokia N900, otherwise known as the Rover or RX-51 - and boy, does it look gorgeous. We broke the news of the N900 back in May, and the final hardware appears to match inch-for-inch with the concept image we drew up at the time.
