Palm Pixi hits FCC with EVDO and Wi-Fi

It looks like a Wi-Fi-enabled version of the Pixi is hitting Verizon next year, at least according to this FCC filing. The filing shows CDMA/1x EVDO and Wi-Fi support along with Bluetooth and matches with the expected P121EWW model number (Sprint’s is P120EWW). So if you’re on Verizon, love you some Wi-Fi, and would consider the [...]

Google’s Being Picky About Who Gets To See Android 2.0

Well, this is a bit of a strange twist. For the first few months after launch, the development mentality surrounding Android was a developer's dream. Huge chunks of the operating system were made open source, the development team was pleasantly transparent, and the roadmap clearly sketched out the trails ahead. Then they released Donut, and all went more-or-less mum. It was no secret that Android 2.0, codenamed Eclair was to follow - but what such updates would contain was anybody's guess. Well, Google's finally ready to share the innards of Eclair with the world. And by "world", we mean a small group of developers hand-picked to attend an invite-only, NDA-required development event.

    LG BL40 New Chocolate review

You know the deal by now: we grab a slab of fresh new hardware, fiddle, play, and tinker with it until exhaustion or boredom is reached, then wax poetic about the whole experience, with a side serving of pictures and videos thrown in. Today's candidate for a grilling is LG's BL40, which is now available in Europe. You'll be familiar with it already from our hands-on look last month, but do join us past the break where we explore what's under the glossy hood in more detail, and give you a definitive answer on just how useful that elongated screen really is.

Yeah, Apple wasn’t integral in Light Peak transfer technology

So Apple wasn't so integral in that whole Light Peak thing after all. Rumors that Apple was integral in the design Light Peak process seem to be false which could put a damper on Apple's plans to implement the technology in its new hardware.

  • Video: New HTC Hero ROM gets demoed, appears lag free

Video: New HTC Hero ROM gets demoed, appears lag free

We love the HTC Hero to pieces around these parts. Really. Even after spending a few days tearing it apart for our review, the only bad thing we could find to say about it was that the sporadic lag on the homescreen harshed our buzz. Well, now HTC has gone and fixed that. Paul of MoDaCo managed to get his hands on a pre-release copy of an upcoming Hero ROM update, and sure enough: the lag is gone. Paul jumps from homescreen to homescreen, breezing around the interface like he was ice skating on frozen butter. We're still not sure when this thing is coming to a stateside carrier - but when it does, expect the interface to be damn near perfection. Check out the silky smooth video after the jump.
