Public Service Announcement: The Zune HD is nigh unreadable in direct sunlight. Just sayin’.
Posted on September 26, 2009 | No CommentsSometime in the past two weeks I decided, with some thought being put into is, to buy a Zune HD. Why, I don't know; I thought it looked neat, and I was thoroughly unimpressed with the new iPods Apple showed off at that Rock and Roll event. For the most part the Zune HD is, indeed, neat. Its user interface is miles ahead of the iPod's, and, with a little forethought, can be used rather effectively with a dual-booting Mac. There's just one small thing: you absolutely cannot read the display in direct sunlight. Don't try to because you can't.

This, of course, despite the fact that AT&T is the “flagship” carrier! But never mind all that, because today we have some good news in the way of this latest bit of gossip: starting with iPhone OS 3.1, AT&T users will, in fact, be able to use MMS and Bluetooth file-sharing. Well then maybe we should look into this report that says Toshiba will “ramp up” production of flash memory chips during the month of Auguest. Word on the street is that Toshiba is doing so to fulfill a big order from Apple. So, new iPods on the way? Speculate away!

We're fairly certain that Apple is adding cameras to their iPod line but could they also be adding video and audio recording capabilities including, heaven forefend, VoIP?
Wired has some info that the new iPods will have built-in video and audio recording and should support Skype chat.
