Twilight-customized LG GD510 set to Eclipse all other phones in France
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No CommentsThink Apple and Android fans are hardcore? Those guys are mere lightweights compared to Twilight fanatics, who'll soon have a phone to call their own too. Coming with eight tie-in wallpapers and that embellished back cover, this version of the GD510 -- a thoroughly unexciting featurephone with ambitions above its 3-inch, resistive touchscreen station -- has just become available over in France, for free on contracts with Orange or in exchange for €199 ($238). As a bonus temptation, LG is also throwing in a free copy of Twilight: New Moon, though we doubt anyone buying this phone will have seen that movie less than a dozen times.Twilight-customized LG GD510 set to Eclipse all other phones in France originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 09 Jun 2010 08:28:00 EST. Japanese Twilight/New Moon DVD box includes a movie on microSD
Posted on January 19, 2010 | No Comments
Teenage movie sensations Twilight and New Moon have grossed over $1 billion at box offices worldwide so far (New Moon is still in theaters), and both movies have proven to be extremely successful in the world's second biggest movie market, Japan, too. That's perhaps the reason why the second movie (New Moon) gets a special treatment in this country, namely a huge and Japan-only DVD premium box.

Avatar online ticket sales taking over
Posted on December 17, 2009 | No Comments
So it's sounding like Avatar is going to be breaking some records (shocking, I know). What record is pending you ask? Online ticket sales. Ok, maybe it's not biggest movie ever, or most special effects, but it's still pretty damn impressive.

O2, Huawei team up for UK’s first trial LTE network
Posted on December 15, 2009 | No Comments
It kinda pales next to TeliaSonera's commercial launch, but give O2 some credit here -- they've just become the first carrier in the UK to trial "live" LTE services. Powered by Huawei gear on the back end, O2's hot new network hit a peak of 150Mbps on the downlink -- a speed we can't imagine seeing in real-world scenarios when 4G goes live on a large scale, but gives us hope nonetheless -- and is being used to demonstrate the kinds of things us lay folk will want to accomplish with LTE like video streaming, high-quality video calling, gaming, and torrenting New Moon (no, not really) at a company showcase. End users aren't able to sign up for the action just yet, but if you want to feel the power of LTE wash over your body like a cool wave, we might recommend heading to Slough -- O2's British headquarters and the location of the trial network.O2, Huawei team up for UK's first trial LTE network originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Tue, 15 Dec 2009 03:58:00 EST. New thermal maps show the Moon gets damn cold
Posted on September 20, 2009 | No Comments
The LRO has already provided us with a lot of fascinating high-res photos of the Moon's surface. But photos are just the start.
The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter also has more instruments aboard and one of them, the Diviner Lunar Radiometer developed and operated by the California Institute of Technology Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is sending back some wild info about the Moon's surface temperature.
