Sega says Nintendo 3DS will bring back mature gamers. But let’s not confuse ‘mature’ games with ‘violent’ games.

Sega believes the Nintendo 3DS could be just the thing to win back the hearts and minds of older, more mature gamers, the implication being that your average 20-something doesn't want to play Mario Does His Taxes 8. Games like House of the Dead and Saint's Row were two of the game that Sega referred to in a recent interview.

If Nintendo ‘won’ E3 then where does that leave Apple?

There were two big pieces of news at E3 last week: the ceaseless march toward 3D gaming and the unrelenting encroachment of motion control upon our lives. I honestly couldn't give a toss about 3D gaming because if I wanted 3D entertainment I'd talk to a human being. Same thing with motion control: it doesn't bother me because I want nothing to do with it (outside of dancing the Macarena when asked to “freestyle”). It'd be like getting angry because it's hot on Venus: what? Exactly. One thing I did notice: what happened to all of that hubbub about “Apple being the new Nintendo”?

    Nintendo 3DS graphics chipset revealed

While Nintendo is normally very closed-mouthed about the actual hardware used in their systems, there has been some news recently about the graphics chipset used in the 3DS. You might be surprised to find out that it's not your typical NVIDIA Tegra, but instead some new PICA200 chip (yes, PICA, hold your giggles to the end please).

Here are your Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword movements

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword might be the Wii's crowning achievement, magnum opus and the single best reason to buy the system. It's going to be huge. Nintendo had a series of posters hung behind its E3 booth that will help you start practicing for the game right now. Click through for what we can only assume are the 11 major control movements for the upcoming Zelda title.

The Playstation Move vs the Xbox Kinect, may the best motion controller win

It's official on. That is the motion control wars and, don't hate, but Nintendo isn't one of the combatants. Nope, this war is clearly between Microsoft and Sony. It's the Kinect vs the Move. Full body tracking vs 1-1 controller tracking. This is going to turn out great for you, me, and both Sony and Microsoft.

Nintendo and Activision bring back Goldeneye~!

Part of me is stoked that GoldenEye is coming back. But then the graphics look like they are ran off of the original N64 graphic engine. So yeah, it's the classic argument between gameplay and eye candy although I could have swore that it was 2010 and that discussion was somewhat moot.

E3 is all about Nintendo and Sony today

Microsoft had their dog and pony show yesterday. Project Natal got a proper name and is now called Kinect and the Xbox 360 is now a bit smaller and quieter. In retrospect, there really wasn’t anything all that special announced. Hopefully that won’t happen today. Now it’s Nintendo’s and Sony’s turn. Nintendo is up first at [...]

Greenpeace says Nintendo is the worst company on Earth, tells Dell to clean up its act

Greenpeace's relentless march toward reminding us that we're killing the planet continues. The organization released its annual "Who's Green?" list yesterday, and Nokia and Sony Ericsson get A+ marks, while Lenovo and Nintendo are, apparently, the dregs of society. Also on the wrong side of Greenpeace: Dell. The Texas-based company found itself on the wrong end of a rather impressive Greenpeace action yesterday. Oh, dear...

Sega delays Sonic 4 till later this year (but there will now be an iPhone version!)

It would appear that Sonic 4 has been delayed until the “latter half of 2010.” That’s the bad news. The good news? One, there’s a new trailer. Two, it’ll also come out for the iPhone and iPod touch (in addition to the platforms we already knew about). Hear that, Nintendo? The full title of the game [...]

    Nintendo trademarks “3DS” among others

Backstory: A Nintendo suit said a while back that the company hasn't announced the official name yet for its upcoming handheld 3D gaming device. This of course suggests that 3DS isn't the official name. Well, that might not be true if Nintendo's recent trademark filings have anything to say about it.

Sharp unveils world’s first 3D HD camera module for mobile devices

Sharp really believes in 3D, it seems. In the past weeks the company presented a new 3D touchscreen for mobile devices, then the world's first four-primary 3D display, followed by a 3D e-book reader. And today Sharp in Japan unveiled [press release in English] the world's first 3D camera module that can be used in mobile devices such as cell phones, cameras or portable gaming systems.

The Nintendo 3DS won’t be called the 3DS

This is strange. Apparently Nintendo has yet to announce the formal name of its upcoming portable 3D gaming device. That means the clever 3DS name we've come to know isn't the real thing. But seriously, is there a name better than 3DS seeing as it's a 3D version of the DS? Unless it's nothing like the DS...maybe this wasn't a fan-made mock-up after all.
