Posted on May 5, 2010 | No CommentsIt’s Cinco de Mayo so naturally it’s Black Wii day! Nintendo just shipped us this gift wrapped Black Wii wiincluding the Motionplus controller and Wii Sports Resort for our gaming pleasure. The black Wii is actually quite handsome and looks much classier than the original Wiihite version. It seems Nintendo is trying to push the [...] -
Black Wii pre-order topping the charts at Amazon
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No CommentsNintendo made the black Wii official here in the states this morning and of course Amazon is johnny-on-the-spot with a pre-order. Apparently people want this system, too. The black bundle is currently on top of the Video Games Movers and Shakers list and number five on the Video Games Bestsellers list. See, Nintendo, we should [...] -
The US might finally get the black Wii
Posted on April 27, 2010 | No Comments
Okay, this isn't even funny anymore. Why the hell isn't the black Wii available in the states? It has been available in Japan for almost nine months and about six months in Europe. That's just crazy. Previously Nintendo even stated that it had no plans on releasing a Wii in any other color besides white in America. But that stance might have changed.

Virtual Boy TV spotted on eBay for $50,000
Posted on April 27, 2010 | No CommentsFor the low, low price of $50,000 you can have your very own Nintendo Virtual Boy TV. Originally used by developers to output their games on a TV (for testing purposes!), you can re-live all the fun you had playing Mario Tennis at Toys R Us, but at home, and on TV!

Nintendo 3DS to be available this October instead of early next year?
Posted on April 20, 2010 | No Comments
Nintendo might be fast-tracking its upcoming 3DS. Apparently one UK video game industry source stated to CVG that the 3D gaming system will launch this coming October, well before the 2011 date we previously heard. The goal here is to get the system to market prior to the Christmas shopping madness.

Judge: Nintendo did not infringe on Wii Classic Controller, Wiimote
Posted on April 14, 2010 | No Comments
A company called Anascape, Ltd. sued Nintendo in 2008 for infringing on their patent for a controller similar to the Classic and Wiimote controllers. The Texas-based patent trolls won $21 million from Nintendo for their troubles thanks to a number of experts who attested that yes, the Anascape patents are pretty overarching and could feasibly apply to any controller ever made.

For the Nintendo 3DS? Hitachi develops glasses-free, mobile 3D display
Posted on April 12, 2010 | No Comments
Sony, Panasonic, NEC and now Sharp: All of these Japanese tech powerhouses are playing the 3D game now, but what about Hitachi? The biggest (sales-wise) of them all has been working on a glasses-free 3D projection system and sells a 3D cell phone in Japan (pictured), but Hitachi has been relatively quiet in terms of 3D.
Today, however, Hitachi Displays announced [JP] the development of a new 3.1-inch 3D LCD, which is - you guessed it - specifically designed for mobile devices.

This is either the Nintendo 3DS or an over-the-top mock-up
Posted on April 6, 2010 | No CommentsWe’re not sure what to make of this thing. On one hand the design is clearly out of the box in a way Nintendo tends to think, but the twisting and turning seems just a tad too far from the norm to be real. But the Japanese site says it’s the real deal so it [...] -
MacBook 3D concept: How long till it becomes a reality?
Posted on April 5, 2010 | No CommentsWhat's most surprising about this next story is that it took so long to emerge. Presenting... someone's MacBook 3D mock-up! "See 3D, make 3D." Yes, that's very Apple-like indeed.

This Nintendo 3DS concept looks like a DS and PSP offspring
Posted on April 5, 2010 | No Comments
We've always admired the PSP's sleek exterior, but loved the DS's fun games. We're weird like that. But maybe, although it's highly unlikely, the next DS incarnation will combine some of the PSP's trademark style with the DS's functionality. If so, the 3DS would probably look something like this concept art.

Heaven forefend! Has Nintendo’s 3DS announcement killed the DSi XL?
Posted on March 31, 2010 | No CommentsNOT FOR KIDS! In all honesty, I don’t think the DSi XL is part of Nintendo’s standard line-up. It’s a reaction to the popularity of the Wii in retirement centers and is aimed at a much older – and much different audience – than the new 3D DS, aptly named the 3DS. Older folks who may [...]
