Apple bumps the MacBook to 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA 320M graphics

Apple quietly updated the MacBook this morning, replacing the 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo with a 2.4GHz of the same pedigree. Graphics is now provided via an NVIDIA GeForce 320M, which no doubt lends a hand in the new 10-hour battery rating. Yeah, you read that right. 10-hours.

Acer outs 18.4-inch Core i7 laptop, I shall call it GIGANTOR!

Acer’s new 18.4-inch AS8940G-6865 is a desktop replacement. And by “desktop replacement” I mean that you could attach four legs to it and use it as your desk. It’s big, is what I’m trying to say. Don’t actually attach legs to it, but I guess take with you the impression that this is a large laptop. Also, it’s powerful, so keep that in mind as well.

Brushed aluminum ultraportables coming from ASUS

ASUS has officially announced its upcoming UL series of brushed-aluminum ultraportable notebooks based on Intel's new dual-core SU7300 ultra-low voltage CPUs. The UL stands for UnLimited -- and please notice ASUS' trendy use of capitalization there. The notebooks will come in a variety of sizes and weights and some models will feature switchable graphics systems allowing you to use an NVIDIA GeForce G 210M chipset for power-hungry stuff, while falling back on the Intel GS45 chipset for maximum battery life.

Dell drops base Adamo price to $1499

Looks like Dell's dropped the starting price on the super thin Adamo to $1499 -- when the machine was officially announced in March, the starting price was $1999.
