Quick Look: Panasonic DMC-G10 Micro Four-thirds Camera

We’ve been looking at a few micro 4/3s cameras recently and I’m really excited about the technology. What you get is near-DSLR quality in a package that’s eminently portable, and unless you’re planning on shooting F1 racers these cameras are fast enough for most shooting situations. The G10 had some low-light issues and felt a bit [...]

Ask CG: New lens or new camera?

Reader Nate writes, So here’s my problem. The kit lens for my Nikon D40 is busted –something’s rattling around inside — and I don’t know what to do. My options are either buy a new lens for about $200 or spend $600 on either a Nikon D5000 or the Olympus E-PL1. On one hand, I would like [...]

The Samsung NX10 pictured next to the Olympus E-P1

The Samsung NX-10 was just an Internet rumor for half of 2009, but Samsung finally made it official last week at CES. The camera is a lot like the micro four-thirds format with a compact image sensor and body, along with interchangeable lens. But as fototrend.hu's review shows, the camera isn't nearly as compact as the Olympus E-P1. But it also has a built-in rangefinder and and flash so I guess it's a trade-off.

    Hands-on with the Panasonic GF-1 M4/3 camera

I’ve been excited about four-thirds cameras for a while now. They seem like a great idea - DSLR power in a point-and-shoot package. However, after the Olympus E-P1 I’m worried that manufacturers are treating these cameras as beta hardware and the real models won’t be stable for a few years. That said, I’m still interested [...]
