Hacker cons HTC Touch Pro 2 into providing multitouch, other WinMo devices too (video)

Never, ever doubt the skill and determination of the guys over at xda-developers, capable of cracking any device and bringing you fresh ROMs to brighten up your stuffy gadgets. This latest bit of wunder-code isn't a full new image, rather a tiny WinMo app that does something magical: enables multitouch on single-touch resistive screens. How? Sadly developer OndraSter isn't saying just yet, but it relies on leaving one finger in place and moving the other, so perhaps it detects a jump in touch position and treats it as a pinch gesture. In the videos below it's shown working in Opera, but should work anywhere, and while the developer filmed these on an HTC Touch Pro 2 he says this will work on just about any WinMo 6 or 6.1 device. The app has sadly not been released to the wild just yet, but we hope OndraSter drops some binaries soon before he starts a riot among Windows Mobile users with more than one finger.

Boost Mobile confirm release date for crazy-tough Motorola i1: June 20th
Posted on May 31, 2010 | No CommentsWeehee! The missing piece of the Motorola i1 puzzle has now been placed, courtesy of an ad shown during the Indianapolis 500: the device will be released June 20th.
The device is Boost Mobile's first Android offering (and arguably their best phone yet), and is also the first Android device to offer iDEN push-to-talk functionality.
The biggest selling point of the device, however, is that it conforms to Military standard 810F, making it dust-, shock- and rain-proof.

Firefox Home ‘coming soon’ to iPhone, will sync with desktop browser
Posted on May 26, 2010 | No CommentsContinuous client functionality, you say? Sounds like Mozilla might be just what the doctor ordered. The company has announced that its upcoming Firefox Home app is coming soon to the iPhone. The program will sync up with your desktop client so that you can go mobile with all your browsing history, bookmarks and "the set of tabs from [your] most recent browser session" going along for the ride. Not only that, but there's an "Awesome Bar" -- Mozilla's words, not ours -- that'll let you search through everything and predict options based on the available data. While not a "full" Firefox browser, according to the blog post (with the addendum, "either technically or due to policy"), the pages still load from within the app itself. No solidified release date yet -- it's still being polished for app store submission, but Opera's luck give us hope for a smooth approval. BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider shows up again, shows off its browser

Man. Unless they're trying to get this thing to leak all over the Internet, RIM is having one hell of a time keeping the BlackBerry Bold 9800 a secret. The prettier of two experimental form factors for RIM (with the uglier one being.. this thing), the Bold 9800 Slider has been leaking out in photos and videos for weeks now.
Aaaand it has leaked again, this time showing the smallest of peeks at RIM's new WebKit browser.

That's right, today the company, which fancies itself as some sort of catch-all, cutting-edge entertainment juggernaut, has bequeathed upon the world WWE Latest, a 99 cent App for the iPhone and iPod touch. It's fairly basic, but should help those of you itching for, I don't know, Diva photos or Raw results. You do know your iPhone has a perfectly viable Web browser, right?

Hands-On Demo Video: Opera Mini for iPhone [Update: First Impressions, Speed tests!]

Today was the day that pigs flew. Seemingly out of no where (or, arguably, perfectly timed to downplay all the rabble rousing surrounding some new terms added to the SDK), Opera Mini has been approved for the iPhone.
It's not going to be available in the US for a few more hours, but we were able to dig it up by tinkering around with some settings and, well, pretending we were somewhere else. I'm checking it out right this second, but I wanted to give you guys a really quick hands on demonstration, along with a few early impressions and speed tests, to tide you over until it's available everywhere.
