  • Acclaim Android slider revealed by Samsung’s own site

Acclaim Android slider revealed by Samsung’s own site

We know you've been kept awake at night by this question: just what does the Samsung Acclaim look like? Well, thanks to one of our awesome readers, we now the first official pic of the handset. This was discovered on Samsung's site without too much effort, which might indicate just how excited the Korean manufacturer is about the whole thing. Clearly running Android as its OS, this slider offers a full QWERTY keypad with a dedicated number row and quite the curious coloration. Assuming Sammy didn't run out of dark navy paint halfway through, the cross pattern highlighted on the left may be indicative of some gaming inclinations to the R880. Earlier rumors peg the Acclaim's US Cellular-exclusive release at some time in July and also indicate a 3.2-inch screen gracing its visage. Can't wait.

    [Thanks, Jason]

Conan O’Brien, do you want to be a CrunchGear intern for a little while?

All of us here at CrunchGear are fairly angry at the way NBC has treated you, Conan. So here's our offer: if you and the peacock decide to part company (and you really ought to, provided the network takes care of your staff and everyone else who moved from New York to Los Angeles, and provided you walk away with some fat cash), we'd like to offer you an internship. That's right: Conan O'Brien, CrunchGear intern. That has a nice ring to it, no?

Will Project Natal be anything more than a glorified tech demo? Here’s hoping!

Maybe I'm speaking for the minority here, but I have to get this off my chest: Project Natal is sorta “meh,” no? I attended Popular Mechanics' Breakthrough Awards for a few minutes last night, and they had on display Project Natal. It was that paint-throwing game. Now, I know that's just a tech demo, but I left feeling a little concerned about its future.

Swinxs now shipping, kids everywhere told what to do by strange man in a box

So this is a weird thing. It's kind of like an electronic camp counselor and it's called Swinxs. Kids wear RFID bracelets and then the box tells you to do stuff like run around and play hide and seek. You check in with the box by moving your RFID band near the box. There are 25 games so far, most of which involve running around and then coming back to the box for further instructions. Parents can also make their own games including, presumably, my Dad's old favorites, Go to the Store and Get Me Some Beer and This Is What You Get When You Spill Paint in the Garage.

Help Wired Pimp Our Kegerator, Win Free Beer

Wired.com is building a kegerator at our San Francisco office, and we need your help to pimp it out, Wired style. We’re going to pit our machine, which we affectionately call Beer Robot, against two store-bought models we have in house for review. While we think Beer Robot will give the others a run for their [...]
