Weeks after Marrying Pinch Media, Flurry Gets in Bed with comScore and Starts Revenue Machine
Posted on January 4, 2010 | No Comments
Flurry Analytics has been real busy this holiday season. They recently merged with Pinch Media to create the biggest (in terms of user base) mobile analytics platform on the market. Today, Flurry is announcing a partnership with comScore, Inc. to provide mobile analytics for comScore clientele. This will provide Flurry with a fresh new revenue stream and comScore with the ability to stay relevant with their analytics offerings to existing clientele.
Essentially, comScore, inc. has a large sales force and existing relationships with big brands that pay comScore to provide them with analytics. These analytics come primarily through panel data, in which comScore uses a sampling of users as a way to determine web traffic and usage data. By selling Flurry's SDK to clients, comScore can remain relevant by providing mobile analytics on top of their existing web analytics package.

Blio seeks to take digital reading in a new, more inclusive, and colorful direction
Posted on December 29, 2009 | No CommentsAs if we didn't have enough pretenders in the ebook space, here's Ray Kurzweil with a new format of his own and a bagful of ambition to go with it. Set for a proper unveiling at CES in a week's time, the Blio format and accompanying application are together intended to deliver true-to-life color reproductions of the way real books appear. Interestingly, the software has been developed in partnership with Nokia, in an effort to turn Espoo's phones into "the smallest text-to-speech reading devices available thus far," though apps are also being developed for the iPhone, PC and Mac. The biggest advantage of this format might actually be behind the scenes, where the costs to publishers are drastically reduced by them having to only submit a PDF scan of their books, whose formatting remains unchanged in Blio. We'll be all over this at CES, but for now you'll find more pictures and early impressions over at Gizmodo.Blio seeks to take digital reading in a new, more inclusive, and colorful direction originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 29 Dec 2009 06:32:00 EST. Taptu iPhone app gets real-time search with OneRiot
Posted on December 22, 2009 | No Comments
Taptu, the mobile search engine, announced a partnership with OneRiot last month to provide real time search results in their mobile-friendly web site. This worked from any mobile client, not just the iPhone. But one of the points of using a smartphone is the use of native applications. Today Taptu announced that they've rolled the real-time search results into their iPhone app.

Palm invites us to ’see and hear what’s new’ at CES 2010
Posted on December 15, 2009 | No CommentsCES 2009 was a biggie for Palm, what with webOS and the Pre and all. Will they top it in 2010? And if so, how? A Verizon partnership seems plausible, if not likely -- but otherwise, your guess is as good as ours. Anyhow, keep it locked right here next month and you'll be finding out just as we do!

Monocle offers custom BlackBerry 9700 for the discerning business traveler
Posted on December 3, 2009 | No CommentsLooking for a BlackBerry for yourself or a special someone that's unique but not in a Colorware sort of way? Then you might just want to consider ponying up for this new limited edition BlackBerry 9700 crafted by the folks at Monocle in partnership with RIM. It'll cost you a hefty £950 (or just over $1,500), but that will get you the gift of confidence that this is one of just 100, along with some suitably luxurious touches like a custom leather strap, a reminder of its rarity on the back, Monocle's 25/25 travel guides pre-loaded on the device, a few custom wallpapers, and even a 16GB microSD card thrown in for good measure. Alright, so maybe it's a bit tough to justify the $1,000+ premium, but those ready to throw caution to the wind can expect their order to ship on December 10th.Monocle offers custom BlackBerry 9700 for the discerning business traveler originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 10:38:00 EST. Last.fm Garners Nearly 1 Million New Subscriptions Through Xbox Live
Posted on November 27, 2009 | No Comments
Last Tuesday, Xbox announced that it would integrate Twitter, Facebook, Zune video compatibility, and Last.fm into its Live services. The software update was free, and has thus far been a success. We recently reported that over 2 million Xbox live subscribers used the Facebook feature from their consoles in the first week. Equally as impressive, is the fact that last.fm has netted nearly 1 million new subscribers from the partnership. Since the introduction of the service, last.fm has seen a record number of new subscribers in a 24 hour period and Live users have streamed over 120 million minutes worth of music to their consoles.

Walmart bumps the Palm Pixi down to $30 right off the bat
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No Comments
Considering that Walmart's already slinging the Palm Pre at $99 bucks, it might have been a bit tough for them to justify peddling the Pre's new baby brother, the Pixi, at the MSRP of $99. So they're not.

Posted on October 6, 2009 | No Comments
Duhwaaaah? Verizon was workin' all hard this morning to ensure that no one slipped up and mentioned any names when it came to the devices that would emerge from the VZW/Google partnership. Then, not even an hour later, they put a picture of Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam holding two separate devices in their own press release. Bloops!
