It’s more than meets the eye with the Montblanc TimeWriter 1 Metamorphosis

Montblanc is a pen company. They do watches as an aside, some sort of weird cross-marketing thing that presumably they'll use to convince watch lovers to go and pick up some pens. However, they have truly outdone themselves with the TimeWriter 1 Metamorphosis. Ariel at ABlogtoRead found the full details on this watch but, in short, when you pull down a lever the entire face changes. One face, with the lever up, shows the time and date. When you pull the lever you release a single-push chronograph. While the technology isn't that impressive, the presentation is amazing. Watch the video about and fast forward to about 5 minutes to see how it works.

Livescribe’s Pulse smartpen gets an app store

In the end, everything will have an app store. Take the Pulse smartpen from Livescribe, for example. The company, whose pen is quite cool (it records what you write and can “remember” things on page, allowing for paper-based calculators and control panels), has just launched an app store for its 2- and 4GB Pulse pens. The [...]

Created by Allerta (and not RIM), the watch, officially named the inPulse smartwatch for BlackBerry, will set you back $150 when it's released in February, 2010.

  • Motorola Droid already getting accessorized

    Motorola Droid already getting accessorized

If there's one thing that's sure to break a new Droid owner's heart, it's scratching the hell out of it -- or worse yet, dropping it to its untimely death. Wouldn't that be a tragedy? Of course, one quick and dirty way to avoid a lot of that heartache is to equip your phone with a beefy protective case, and from what we're seeing here, it looks like there won't be any problem whatsoever finding such cases on day one of the Droid's availability (whenever that happens to be). What we've got here is a third-party case (excuse us -- "carrying solution") that's popped up over at Best Buy Mobile, though interestingly, the Droid's model number of A855 is being featured far more prominently than the catchy name itself. Given the look of this thing, we think you'll need to have an extreme dedication to preserving your phone's rugged handsomeness to actually equip it, but hey, more power to you -- meanwhile, we'll carry on with letting our phones rustle around with coins, keys, pens, and switchblades in our pockets.

    [Thanks, anonymous tipster]

Convergence Run Amok: Alarm clock with pen holder

Here's a weird-looking convergence device -- alarm clock, pen holder, and speaker -- that might work for anyone who needs to write things down in the middle of the night. Maybe you're a stand-up comedian who thinks up jokes while in a sleep-like state, a famous writer, or you just need to document your aggressive night terrors before you drift back off to whatever fresh hell awaits you in your dreams.
