As any long time MobileCrunch reader (hey, they exist!) ought to know, we've got a bit of a soft spot for pink phones. I'm not really too interested in carrying one (nothing against'em, it would just clash with my depressingly grey-hued wardrobe), but I like to keep a careful eye on them as they surge in popularity right around February 14th of each year. This time around, it looks like Palm might be hopping on the brightly-colored bandwagon.

Pantech Impact now available on AT&T for $100
Posted on November 24, 2009 | No CommentsThat trick Impact -- the better half of Pantech's two-phone combo for AT&T this fall -- has finally hit AT&T in the past couple days after we had a chance to play with it way back at CTIA at the beginning of October. Though it's not much of a monster on paper, the Impact has one of the more unique looks of anything currently in AT&T's lineup thanks to a touch-sensitive "hidden" external keypad paired with an internal color display and full QWERTY keyboard. That all matches up nicely with 3G capability and a 2 megapixel camera -- and buyers of all genders, tastes, and moods are welcome to this party thanks to availability in blue and pink. Grab it for $99.99 on contract after rebate, if you're so inclined.

Sharp’s chocolate cell phone (video)

You know when a given country, in this case the nation of Japan, is over-saturated with cell phones when you get to see something like this: A cell phone that's supposed to be similar in shape to a chocolate bar, available in two versions: Melty Bitter (brown) and Melty Strawberry (pink). The Sharp SH-04B [JP] is part of NTT Docomo's winter line-up of new handsets for the Japanese market (unveiled ten days ago).

Video: Rescue robot can pull victims into its body

I experienced two scary earthquakes in the last days in Tokyo, so hearing that the local fire department isn't sleeping on the rescue robot front was a relief. The newest model [JP] can be used for those cases in which the rescuers can't reach people in an emergency, i.e. if the area is too dangerous for the rescuers themselves.
The so-called Robocue can be remote-controlled and is able to pull victims inside its body via a conveyor belt. After that, the person in question can be driven to a safe area.

To be more exact, he took a commercially available robot body kit and used an iPhone 3GS as its "head (through the dock connector).
