Nokia announces a 16GB X6, “Comes With Music” not included
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No CommentsWe knew Nokia was preppin’ something for launch today, thanks to some loose lipped execs – but what would it be? Announcing something just one day before a much hyped Apple announcement is always risky; either Nokia thought the product was a big enough deal to overshadow Apple’s goods, or it was small enough that [...] -

Rumor: Palm Pixi to go Pink?
Posted on January 4, 2010 | 1 Comment
As any long time MobileCrunch reader (hey, they exist!) ought to know, we've got a bit of a soft spot for pink phones. I'm not really too interested in carrying one (nothing against'em, it would just clash with my depressingly grey-hued wardrobe), but I like to keep a careful eye on them as they surge in popularity right around February 14th of each year. This time around, it looks like Palm might be hopping on the brightly-colored bandwagon.

Pantech Impact now available on AT&T for $100
Posted on November 24, 2009 | No CommentsThat trick Impact -- the better half of Pantech's two-phone combo for AT&T this fall -- has finally hit AT&T in the past couple days after we had a chance to play with it way back at CTIA at the beginning of October. Though it's not much of a monster on paper, the Impact has one of the more unique looks of anything currently in AT&T's lineup thanks to a touch-sensitive "hidden" external keypad paired with an internal color display and full QWERTY keyboard. That all matches up nicely with 3G capability and a 2 megapixel camera -- and buyers of all genders, tastes, and moods are welcome to this party thanks to availability in blue and pink. Grab it for $99.99 on contract after rebate, if you're so inclined.Pantech Impact now available on AT&T for $100 originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Tue, 24 Nov 2009 08:17:00 EST. Video: Rescue robot can pull victims into its body
Posted on August 11, 2009 | No Comments
I experienced two scary earthquakes in the last days in Tokyo, so hearing that the local fire department isn't sleeping on the rescue robot front was a relief. The newest model [JP] can be used for those cases in which the rescuers can't reach people in an emergency, i.e. if the area is too dangerous for the rescuers themselves.
The so-called Robocue can be remote-controlled and is able to pull victims inside its body via a conveyor belt. After that, the person in question can be driven to a safe area.

New piggy bank: The Coin Penguin swallows your coins, then dances for you
Posted on August 4, 2009 | No Comments
Japan sure has a penchant for extraordinary piggy banks. Tokyo-based toy maker Banpresto is now selling a quite unusual model, too. The Coin Penguin [JP] is a cute little, well, penguin, that can open its mouth, swallow coins and then reward the user by performing a quick dance.

Video: Geek creates dancing humanoid with iPhone head
Posted on July 28, 2009 | No CommentsGiven the enormous creative energy some robot geeks regularly demonstrate, this took longer than I expected: A robot hobbyist (who is Japanese, I believe) created a humanoid with an iPhone head. To be more exact, he took a commercially available robot body kit and used an iPhone 3GS as its "head (through the dock connector).

You know when a given country, in this case the nation of Japan, is over-saturated with cell phones when you get to see something like this: A cell phone that's supposed to be similar in shape to a chocolate bar, available in two versions: Melty Bitter (brown) and Melty Strawberry (pink). The
Europe is finally set to get a few more color options for its
