Android 2.2 ROM inevitably falls victim to device ports
Posted on May 20, 2010 | No CommentsWell, who saw this coming? Froyo -- yes, the one and only Android 2.2 that got released via SDK today -- has already begun its grand voyage into hacky, totally unofficial device ROMs that are available to unhealthily brave users. The two we've got for your perusal here are for the Nexus One (of course) and Verizon's Droid Eris, of all things; our understanding is that both of them are ridiculously unstable and unpractical for actual use at this point, but it's patently obvious that these guys aren't going to sleep until there are some solid firmware binaries on the interwebs. Mountain Dew Code Red and bottles of No-Doz, fellas.

Asus claims 100 percent recyclable laptops (that are made of bamboo)
Posted on May 14, 2010 | No CommentsWhat do you do with a laptop when you're done with it? That's an actual question being that the only laptop I owned before my current old man MacBook is sitting in the closet, broken beyond repair. Now, if I had one of these new Asus laptops, I could, somehow, recycle them. Helping the Earth, one laptop at a time.

Is the Asus Rampage III Extreme the best motherboard ever or overpriced hype?
Posted on May 13, 2010 | No CommentsMoments ago, in our chatroom, I said that, if I had the money, I'd buy two Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboards: one to use and one to hang on the wall like a diploma. That's how great the thing looks. Never mind that, simply reading the stats, it's one of the best motherboard money can buy as of today—it looks as if it was designed by an extraterrestrial being, one with an advanced outer space art degree. It's a very good board, but is it OMG BEST THING EVER~!

Zune HD hacked, entire hardware open to homebrew programmers
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No CommentsPotentially huge news for Zune HD owners—that means Devin and I. It has been hacked~! Yes, the good folks over at ZuneBoards have hacked the Zune HD to pieces, giving homebrew developers full access to the hardware, access that otherwise lay behind the XNA development kit. The Zune HD isn't too shabby, so I fully expect to see ports of popular emulators like FCEUX in no time at all.
