More Stargate props up on ebay for nerds like me
Posted on April 15, 2010 | No Comments
I love me some Stargate, but I still can't justify dropping cash on some props. I guess I don't love it that much. But if you do, jump over to ebay where there's another group of Stargate props available. There isn't anything really fun this time around like O'Neill's sunglasses or Teal'c's staff, but there might be something in the group that strikes your fancy. The Stargate Atlantis laptop stickers are available along with Bill Nye's seat back from one of the last episodes and Teal'c's hat.

The thought here is to offer consumers an alternative source for movie content and so select FreeAgent Go portable will soon come with 21 of Paramount’s best flicks. But of course these movies aren’t free. Nope, while they are actually pre-loaded on the drive, they cost between $10 [...] -
Nintendo controller car mod goes too far
Posted on April 3, 2010 | No Comments
I'm all for letting your geek flag fly, but this is a bit much. Perhaps he wanted to be able to control the car from the front? At least it's something that you can hide under you hood. I dunno. Props for knowing your roots and such.

New FedEx truck: it’s electric!
Posted on March 31, 2010 | No Comments
Good on FedEx, for doing this. The USPS has been talking about going electric for their fleet, and it makes sense. After all, they put massive amounts of miles on their vehicles, and that's got to make for a pretty serious carbon foot print.

Construct your own Head Mounted Display for fun and profit
Posted on February 13, 2010 | No Comments
While you jerks are wasting away watching the Olympics this weekend, I'm going to attempt to make this sweet-ass Head Mounted Display. The Instructable doesn't seem that hard. Basically I'll just be transplanting the screens from my busted Myvu personal media glasses into some utility or ski glasses. Maybe I'll make one for me and one for the wife, solving my Valentine's Day shopping conundrum.

ESPN has long been the leader in live HDTV and the network is about to stay ahead of the curve yet again by launching its own 3D network early this summer. iPhone props go into mass production
Posted on October 26, 2009 | No Comments
In just about every other movie or TV show we watch, at least one of the characters (if not half the cast) is rocking the iPhone. For example: Have you seen Chuck? If not, you definitely should -- it's a great show -- but it has more Apples than Granny Smith.
Sooner or later, one of these shows is going to have a reason to destroy an iPhone on camera. Up until now, the prop folks have only read had two options: Smash a real iPhone to pieces, or recreate the iPhone in one-off prop form. Depending on the size of the production, either of those options might be a bit too pricey. Enter: the iPhone dummy.

Video: The first trailer of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony totally has Eric Prydz’s ‘Pjanoo’ in the background
Posted on September 1, 2009 | No CommentsWhat was one of the biggest house songs of the year 2008? That's right: Eric Prydz's “Pjanoo.” (The Madonna remix is pretty cool, too. I like(d) house music, sue me.) What song is featured in the DEBUT TRAILER! of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony? That's right, Eric Prydz's “Pjanoo.” Massive props to Rockstar.

Review: Logitech Harmony 900 universal remote
Posted on August 31, 2009 | No CommentsI wanted to love this remote. The Harmony One has a great form factor, and I was hoping that Logitech would add its current RF system to the mix. But that didn’t happen with the $400 Harmony 900. Instead, Logitech attempted to simplify the RF setup even though the current method is easy enough and [...] -
