HTC Touch2 breaks cover, runs Windows Mobile 6.5

Today, HTC officially announced the Touch2 with Windows Mobile 6.5 that includes My Phone and Windows Marketplace for Mobile. Chinese iPhone Gets Official In English. China Unicom Nearly Doubles AT&T’s Subscriber Base.

Just as we wrote about yesterday, Chinese telecom giant China Unicom has just officially announced that it has reached a deal with Apple to sell the iPhone in China. They did so as an aside in their earnings announcement, which you can find here. Some details not revealed yesterday include that this is a 3-year deal between China Unicom and Apple, and that the first iPhones will ship sometime in Q4 of this year (the report yesterday had said October, which is certainly a possibility). Not stated is whether this will be the iPhone 3GS or the older iPhone 3G. Recent reports had indicated that either way, the device would not come with WiFi functionality (which had supposedly long been one sticking point between Apple and the Chinese carriers).

Intel no longer accepting Z-series Atom orders

intelIntel's apparently putting the kibosh on orders for its super low-voltage Z-series Atom processors. The Z-series chips can be found mostly in UMPCs and MIDs but had also made their way into various netbooks like the 12-inch Dell Mini series and the Acer Aspire One 751h, to name a few, as they provided a nice loophole to the "no screens over 1024x600 resolution" rule.

Apple sold 5.2 million iPhones last quarter

Haters be damned: like it or not, the iPhone just won’t stop selling. This quarter’s results, boosted by the release of the iPhone 3GS, absolutely demolished results of quarter’s past (well, except for Q4 of last year). Fresh off today’s Apple’s earnings call for the third fiscal quarter of 2009: Apple pushed 5.2 million iPhones [...]

Rumor: Nvidia Tegra phones in Q409? [Updated]

We’ve been excited about Nvidia’s Tegra chipset making its way to mobile handsets for as long as they’ve been showing off their prototypes - which, to be clear, is quite a while. They’ve managed to jam a beast of a computer down into a itty-bitty chip and sink the power requirements down to less than [...]
