Hands-On with the Motorola Droid X (With Video!)

I just had the opportunity to spend some quality time with Motorola’s latest addition to their Android lineup, the beastly Droid X superphone, and man-oh-man, is it glorious. It’s not exactly unique; it’s nearly identical to Sprint’s EVO 4G, both in appearance and specifications — but given how well the EVO 4G has been received [...]

  • E3 2010: Hands-on with the surprisingly good AAA: Heroés del Ring

E3 2010: Hands-on with the surprisingly good AAA: Heroés del Ring

Rather than use E3 to pile on the mountains and mountains of hype of the big-bidget titles, I've elected to sprinkle through our coverage the small little gems that might otherwise go unnoticed. First on the docket is AAA: Héores del Ring a lucha libre (Mexican-style higly-flying pro-wrestling) game that'll hit your Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PSP on August 10 of this year. I had some quality time with it this morning and I can say this: I left the booth absolutely shocked at how thorough the game is.

Windows Phone 7: technical tidbits exposed

Windows Phone 7 architectural documents, the sordid details exposed
We're in an interesting position with Windows Phone 7. We still don't know what devices will be running the OS nor indeed exactly when they'll be launching, but despite that we've already had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of quality time with not one but two separate versions of Microsoft's mobile revolution. And now, if that weren't enough, we've gained access to a series of detailed architectural documents about the OS courtesy of tweakers.net and HTCPedia.com, documents that detail everything from ringtones to device drivers. It's a couple-hundred pages of generally menial stuff, but there are quite a few nuggets of gold to be found in here, and we've dug them out just for you. Click on through, and let's see what we've got.

  • What the HTC EVO 4G packaging does — but hopefully won’t — look like

What the HTC EVO 4G packaging does — but hopefully won’t — look like

There are actually days when we envy those who are paid to hawk telephones. Today, for instance, we hear that certain Sprint employees have recently obtained an HTC EVO 4G. However, our jealousy is tempered by the fact that we've already spent considerable quality time with the superphone, and, quite frankly, by the ridiculous packaging you see immediately above. Pardon our french, but it looks like a microwavable food tub. See a pair of close-ups after the break.

    [Thanks, Mike & Anonymous]

    DIY Dyson-like workshop vacuum

The core concept behind the Dyson vacuums are nothing new. In fact workshoppers have been using similar, but a whole lot more simple versions, to take some load off of their expensive dust collection units for years. Either you buy one, or you spend some quality time with some PVC pipes and make your own.

Dell shows off the new ultra-thin Adamo XPS notebook

Breaking: Dell is finally showing off the Adamo XPS in person. There has been a teaser page up for about a month now, but John is live at a NYC press event to spend some quality time with the 9.99MM thin notebook. That’s thinner than the iPhone, kiddies. Stay put, more’s coming soon.

MID Moves goes hands-on with the Viliv S10 Blade

Chippy, over at UMPC Portal, got to spend some quality time with the upcoming Viliv S10 Blade at IDF and seems impressed. That's saying something as previously he has reviewed the Viliv S5, X70, and currently has in house - like us - the S7. Personally I'm finding that the small form factor of the 7-inch S7 is the perfect netbook size, but some folks might like the bigger 10-inch screen the S10 Blade will offer. Plus, it seems even thinner. It's going to be a hot netbook, that's for damn sure. Anyway, hit up the read link and watch the video after the jump.

Review: The iPhone 3GS By Steven Levy

We’ve spent some quality time with the iPhone 3GS over the last couple of days and it looks like Apple is going to remain king of the smartphones with its latest iDevice. Although the 3GS is not significantly changed from the older 3G model, there are still a number of updates that make the 3GS [...]

  • Philips GoGear Opus reviewed: solid audio, but painfully boring

Philips GoGear Opus reviewed: solid audio, but painfully boring

When we had the downright magnificent opportunity to toy with Philips' latest PMP line here in the States, we immediately noticed that the GoGear Opus stood out among the rest. The crew over at TrustedReviews recently spent some quality time with the 8GB version of that very unit, and while they found the audio quality to be "excellent," they seemed rather disappointed -- if not irked -- by everything else in the package. For starters, the whole solution just felt boring, with critics noting that its biggest problem was a lack of "excitement." Granted, none of this would matter at a rock-bottom price point, but for $100, there's an awful lot of competition. As we found during our short time with the player, these folks also noticed that the user interface was simply "old-fashioned," and that video playback was nothing to write home about. The bottom line? Unless you score some kind of spectacular deal, your PMP dollars are probably best spent elsewhere.
