iPhone 4 to have 512MB of RAM, double the 3GS and iPad?
Posted on June 17, 2010 | No CommentsApple has traditionally been -- how shall we put it -- cagey with revealing memory and CPU specifics of its mobile devices, but MacRumors is today reporting its discovery that the fourth-gen iPhone's RAM apportionment will be a very healthy 512MB. We've heard similar rumblings from reliable sources of our own. What it means is that iPhone 4 users can look forward to not only the same processor (though potentially at a lower speed) as their iPad compatriots, but also double the memory allowance. Of course, this will hardly be the first handset to offer half a gig for the OS to dance inside, but at least Apple's keeping up with the times. Wouldn't wanna disappoint all those pre-orderers now, would we?iPhone 4 to have 512MB of RAM, double the 3GS and iPad? originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 17 Jun 2010 15:54:00 EST. Motorola boosts Milestone XT720 spec with 720MHz CPU and 512MB RAM
Posted on June 10, 2010 | No CommentsSome of you weren't too pleased to see Motorola's new Milestone hitting Europe with just 256MB of memory and a 550MHz processor, and it seems like Moto has listened. We're sure the XT720 would've done just fine running Android 2.1 with its previous spec, but we're hardly going to begrudge a free upgrade. The TI OMAP3440 is now running at 720MHz -- something Motorola had told us the phone was always capable of, though the company had initially opted to downclock away from it, presumably in an effort to extend battery life. RAM gets a healthy doubling to 512MB, bringing the Milestone XT720 more in line with its "premium multimedia" boast, while the launch date seems to remain unaltered: later this month for Europe and a big fat question mark for the USA.

Apple bumps the MacBook to 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, NVIDIA 320M graphics
Posted on May 18, 2010 | No Comments
Apple quietly updated the MacBook this morning, replacing the 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo with a 2.4GHz of the same pedigree. Graphics is now provided via an NVIDIA GeForce 320M, which no doubt lends a hand in the new 10-hour battery rating. Yeah, you read that right. 10-hours.

Asus claims 100 percent recyclable laptops (that are made of bamboo)
Posted on May 14, 2010 | No CommentsWhat do you do with a laptop when you're done with it? That's an actual question being that the only laptop I owned before my current old man MacBook is sitting in the closet, broken beyond repair. Now, if I had one of these new Asus laptops, I could, somehow, recycle them. Helping the Earth, one laptop at a time.

The Lenovo Q nettop series gets a makeover, should look at home under your HDTV
Posted on May 10, 2010 | No Comments
Lenovo's previous nettop entry was just your standard Mac Mini-clone, encased in a drab black box. But the just-announced Q150 shouldn't have any issues standing out from the crowd. Forget about the sleek exterior, it's the included bitch'n Lenovo wireless keyboard/mouse that will please the masses [of nerds].

This iPad clone packs Android 2.1, 10-inch screen, and a 1Ghz Cortex-A8 CPU
Posted on May 3, 2010 | No Comments
iPad clones are hitting the scene at such a rapid pace that we simply can't keep track of all them. Most of them aren't worth your time but this boy is turning heads with specs to die for. Within the clearly iPad-inspired bezel is a 1Ghz ARM Cortex-A8 CPU, 512GB or RAM, 10-inch 1024x600 display, and a 2400mAH battery. All that power should run Android 2.1 without breaking a sweat.

RAM hits a new low, Newegg selling 1GB for $1.99 (after MIR)
Posted on April 13, 2010 | No Comments
This is just crazy. Newegg has a killer deal on 1GB 204-pin DDR3 stick of RAM. It's only $1.99 after a mail-in rebate. Sure, you're going to pay $21.99 + $2.99 for shipping, but then there's that nice $20 rebate. That's so cheap you could justify buying this for a keychain accessory alone.

The Inkia MID500n shows love and affection by cloning the Viliv S5
Posted on April 1, 2010 | No Comments
People love the Viliv S5. It's a highly portable 4.8-inch Windows XP slate with 3G wireless, a webcam, and a GPS. It's great. Inkia obviously thought so too as the MID500n is nearly an exact, although a bit less powerful, copy of the S5.

The Archos 9 PC Tablet makes room for the Atom Z515 CPU
Posted on March 23, 2010 | No Comments
Isn't it grand when companies somewhat silently update their products with new hardware but keeps the previous price. That's just what Archos did with the 9 PC Tablet. Overnight it went from the Intel Atom Z510 1.1GHz CPU to the Z515 1.2GHz Atom with Hyper-Threading and Intel Burst Performance Technology. It's a nice little spec bump, actually.

Crunchdeal: Save $500 on a Toshiba R600 with OpenSolaris
Posted on March 9, 2010 | No CommentsSo here’s a deal, but it’s a bit odd. The Toshiba R600 is advertised as being Toshiba’s ultimate notebook, and for the price it better be. You can buy it from Toshiba’s website for $2,099 for the base model which includes a 160GB hard drive, 3GB of RAM, and a 12.1″ screen, and comes standard [...] -
ViewSonic ultraportable swaps out optical drive with extended battery
Posted on February 23, 2010 | No Comments
ViewSonic’s 13.3-inch ViewBook Pro (VNB131) promises up to 8-hour battery life with the standard 6-cell battery but you can also swap out the built-in optical drive with an included 3-cell battery slice for an extra four hours of juice. That’s a nice touch for anyone who’s on the go a lot but still needs to be able to work with disc-based media from time to time.

It looks like MSI is getting set to launch a 12-inch Windows 7 netbook from its U200 series. You'll recall that the company released
