RIM’s BlackBerry tablet starting to sound suspiciously like a Foleo
Posted on May 13, 2010 | No CommentsSo BGR is reporting that it has "confirmed with multiple sources" that RIM's alleged BlackBerry tablet device is very real -- despite Mike Lazaridis' recent downer comments on the subject -- and that it'll have an 8.9-inch screen, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity to hook up with your phone. Oh yeah, about that Bluetooth connectivity: the tablet is being billed as a "companion" device, something to use when you need a little bit more horsepower and screen real estate for multimedia and the like. Sound familiar? Yeah, Palm tried this with famously catastrophic results a while back -- and considering RIM's ultra-conservative policy on product innovation, we can't imagine things going any better up in Waterloo. It's apparently slated for a December release with engineers scrambling to get it released even sooner... and, you know, discontinued sooner, too.RIM's BlackBerry tablet starting to sound suspiciously like a Foleo originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 13 May 2010 12:12:00 EST. Depot Angel: Japanese company sells pre-fabricated basements (video)

About a year ago, I blogged about Yamaha's portable room that you could set up in bigger rooms to have your well-deserved quiet time. And now another Japanese company called Tamada brings us something similar: The Depot Angel [JP] (what a name), a pre-fabricated basement that can be, again, used to enjoy some alone time, as a storage room or as anything you'd like it to be.
The main idea is to create additional space for Japanese households at relatively affordable prices. Seeing that real estate in Japan is (generally speaking) pretty expensive, it might make sense for some families in this country to get one Depot Angel and bury it under their house.

Review: mStand by Rain Design
Posted on October 5, 2009 | No CommentsHere at TechCrunch HQ, almost all of us have laptops, with some connecting their laptops to an external display. In my case, I use a 15" Unibody MacBook Pro connected to a 22" Gateway display. I have always gone by the theory that the more real estate space you have, the more productive you are. To keep both displays level, I've been trying out number laptop stands; anywhere from paper stacked on top of each other, to cardboard, but it seems like the best laptop stand for my Mac is the mStand from Rain Design. The mStand is designed for the MacBook and MacBook Pro, yet it works with all laptops. The mStand is made of a single solid piece of aluminum that matches MacBook Pro's silver anodized finish.

Criterion hasn't given up on Burnout Paradise even after outing Burnout Paradise: Cops and Robbers. The latest expansion pack adds a lot of real estate to the already huge world. Big Surf Island has 45 new billboards, 75 new Smashes, and even new vehicles to burn around town while working towards the new Island license. The demo video is a bit long-winded at 8:40, but if you're a true Burnout fanboy like me, you'll be envious during the entire thing. Especially when you see the monster jumps that are coming soon.



Synaptics, purveyor of fine touchpads, recently demonstrated its upcoming "ClickPad," which is basically a button-less multitouch trackpad that's "ideal for space constrained netbooks where real estate is at a premium in the palmrest."
