iFixit mercilessly pulls apart an iPhone 4
Posted on June 23, 2010 | No Comments
Ah, iFixit, if there's anyone more adept at being the first to dissect the latest toys, I've not met them. The latest gadget on their operating table is none other than the most lusted after device in the entire world: the iPhone 4.
Yes, most people are still waiting to even touch the device, and here it is splayed open for all the world to see.

Hey, Sirius XM: Can you get your act together and fix your online stream? That would be neat.
Posted on June 21, 2010 | No CommentsHere's a “shout out” to the fine people at Sirius XM. You pay for a service with the expectation that it, you know, occasionally works as advertised, right? Not Sirius XM, the company that's fine with people overworking for years so long as they don't ask for a marginal(in the grand scheme of Howard Stern and Oprah and MLB contracts) raise! How many times per week does the online stream die? I'm thinking at least three to five times.

Video: Meet LOLA, Germany’s newest (and very tall) fembot
Posted on May 6, 2010 | No Comments
Remember AILA, the "female" humanoid we've blogged about two weeks ago? It turns out that wasn't the only fembot that has been in development in Germany in the last few years, as LOLA [GER], a humanoid presented by the Technical University of Munich and the Institute of Technology Autonomous Systems in Munich, shows.

iCitizen Symposium 2010: The Real-Time Web
Posted on May 5, 2010 | No CommentsI’ve been at the iCitizen Symposium 2010, here in beautiful Columbus OH, since bright and early this morning. I have been talking to people and scanning QR codes (I’ll come back to that). The main theme of this event surrounds the “real-time web” and the speed with which its underbelly is changing the way people [...] -

Layar Launches Store for Augmented Reality Layers
Posted on April 29, 2010 | No Comments
Augmented reality is being touted as the new hotness. I'm sure most of you have heard of the augmented reality browser, Layar. Basically, Layar offers a window through which to view the world, where handy hints and information are displayed over the top in real-time.
The Amsterdam-based company released Layar last year for both Android and iPhone, and a number of interesting "layers" have already made their way into the application. The layers mentioned in that post were created by interested developers, but today, Layar opened up a store for selling layers.

The haptic hoo-haa ultrasound trainer
Posted on April 16, 2010 | No CommentsDude. This is great. It’s essentially a haptic trans-hoo-haa ultrasound simulator that teaches doctors how to perform an internal examination using an ultrasound wand. The greatest thing is that it offers haptic feedback so you can tell how hard to push in various situations. If video games have taught me anything, your accuracy and speed [...] -
NVIDIA tries creating real hair
Posted on March 15, 2010 | No CommentsTen years ago, Final Fantasy VII upped the ante on realistic portrayals of their human characters in their cinematics. It’s a good thing, too –those cinematics became a terrific reward for the hours spent acquiring EXP and levelling up to make one’s characters fortuitous enough to withstand the battles they laid in wait behind. It [...]

I'll let the video after the jump do most of the talking on this one but
