Palm Pixi Plus now free on AT&T
Posted on June 9, 2010 | No Comments
Wow, that didn't take long! A couple days ago, you were paying $50 to take this thing home, but AT&T has moved perhaps quicker than any carrier in memory to adjust pricing on the Pixi Plus down to a more reasonable $0 -- on contract after rebates, of course. The only catch appears to be that you'll have to sign up for a data plan of at least $15, which corresponds to the carrier's recently-introduced DataPlus package that includes 200MB per month with overage of $15 per additional 200MB. That might seem low for your average power user on your average smartphone -- but this is a Pixi Plus we're talking about here.

Palm Pixi Plus now available on AT&T
Posted on June 6, 2010 | No CommentsWe knew it was coming, and here it is: you can now grab up a Palm Pixi Plus on AT&T. The tiny QWERY webOS device will run you $49.99 with a new two year contract after rebates. Overall, it's pretty much the same beast as the classic Pixi, but check out our hands on of the Plus, and our full review of the little dear if you need a refresher.

Best Buy now offering Kin One free, Kin Two for $50 on contract
Posted on May 31, 2010 | No CommentsFor all its faults, the prime reason we panned Microsoft's Kin was price. Why buy a Kin when you could get a more capable iPhone, Palm Pre or Android device for the same price? This week, it seems someone at Best Buy HQ has seen the light. As of today, the brick-and-mortar electronics superstore has knocked $50 off the price of both handsets, making the Kin One free and the Kin Two cost only $50 on a two-year contract, with no mail-in rebates or other nonsense required. Now, if only Verizon would do something about that $30 monthly data plan, your teen might finally have a vaguely compelling reason to pick one up.

LG Arena made official at AT&T
Posted on February 19, 2010 | No CommentsPart of me feels like saying, "LG Arena! Last stop, AT&T!" After all, this handset has been announced well over a year ago and it's been available in other countries for quite some time. Of course, if you've been keeping up you'll know that Best Buy is getting the Arena very soon for a modest price with a contract. Need a reminder for the perks and features that come with this phone?

HP lets iPAQ Glisten out of the box
Posted on December 4, 2009 | No CommentsThe AT&T-bound iPAQ Glisten from HP has been unboxed for our viewing pleasure, video of which can be found immediately after the break. If you're not in such a hurry though, you'll want to know it's an AMOLED-fronted, Qualcomm-powered (533MHz) WinMo 6.5 device, which brings the BlackBerry form factor sans the RIM user experience, but plus a touchscreen. Another thing to note is that AT&T's online store will be the only place to get it, at the already announced $179.99 after rebates on a two-year deal. The video does a good job of comparing HP's return to the mobile space with a pair of similar devices, and we're left with the impression that it's a pretty chunky machine, but as usual we recommend seeing it for yourself -- and you already know where to find it.Continue reading HP lets iPAQ Glisten out of the box

Walmart’s $30 deal vaults Pixi from ‘meh’ to ’sure, I’ll take three’
Posted on November 12, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Palm, Sprint, EV-DO, CDMA, webOS
At $100, the underpowered Pixi doesn't look like a great value against its bigger, older brother -- but at the $30 Walmart is charging through its partner LetsTalk, the game changes a bit, doesn't it? Sure, $70 isn't that huge of a difference quantitatively, but emotionally, $30 is basically an overpriced meal or two -- and considering the old adage of "a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips," wouldn't you just rather have webOS? We've heard of some bad experiences with LetsTalk rebates in the past, but in this case, it's just an instant discount, so it seems like it could be a no-brainer for on-the-fencers.

Walmart is now selling the Palm Pre for only $79
Posted on September 27, 2009 | No CommentsSo ya think that the Pre is still overpriced at $100 from Amazon, eh? Well, if you’re willing to buy the Pre at Walmart and deal with mail-in rebates, you can snag one for only $79.99. This deal is of course for new subscribers that sign a 2-year agreement, but the end price is the cheapest [...] -

Posted on September 5, 2009 | 1 CommentT-Mobile, Sprint, and now Verizon Wireless. Yup, the HTC Touch Pro 2 should be ready and waiting for you at your local VZW store on September 11. In what may be the first example of VZW customers getting a deal (compared to the other carriers), the phone is only $199 after $100 rebate and two-year contract.

Rumor: T-Mobile Pulse (Huawei 8220) details revealed?
Posted on August 21, 2009 | No CommentsOh, Internet. You give it a little bit of information and a reason to dig, and some super sleuth will uncover all there is to know. Such is the case with the Huawei 8220 Android phone; once it was given a name and a carrier by the Wi-Fi Alliance’s filing for the “T-mobile Pulse”, the [...]

Get that wallet ready, Nikon's annual instant rebate program is starting on the 28th. Pretty much always a good deal, Nikon loves to tempt the weak with their instant rebate offers on lenses and gear that they roll out on a yearly basis. Case in point - I bought my D300 back in 2008 (with the oh so popular 18-200 VR) and justified it to my wife as a "really great deal" because of the rebate. Luckily she's a patient woman, and we're still married.

While past rumors indicated that Sprint's
