Sprint EVO 4G will ship with storage bug
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No Comments
Uh-oh! It seems that the super-fab (but electrically challenged) Sprint EVO 4G will be shipping with an unintentional stow-away.
Reports are floating around the net that some users who received their EVOs at Google I/O the other week are unable to save files to the MicroSD card. Instead, they get a permission error.

Droid Incredible torn down to its constituent elements, reassembled in a flash (video)
Posted on May 5, 2010 | No CommentsNow here's an innovative concept -- instead of doing separate videos for an unboxing and a disassembly of the Droid Incredible, why not combine them into one? And while you're at it, turn that into a stop-motion animation and include well timed sound effects for comedic relief. Make sure to include intimate closeups of the Incredible's spectacularly red innards, then finish off with a sped-up reconstruction and reboot of the handsome Nexus One killer. Got all that? Good, now drop the video after the break and let the people enjoy it.Droid Incredible torn down to its constituent elements, reassembled in a flash (video) originally appeared on Engadget on Wed, 05 May 2010 05:27:00 EST. Spider-Man reboot to be shot in 3D (!!!)
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No CommentsNo matter how you feel about the Spider-Man franchise going a new direction without Toby Maguire, you have to admit that a 3D Spider-Man movie has at least potential to be awesome. If soaring through the word of Avatar made you sick, just think what web-slinging through the streets of NYC will feel like. Yeah, you’re [...] -

Warner Bros. looking to reboot Superman movie franchise. Again.
Posted on February 9, 2010 | No CommentsGet ready for another movie franchise re-boot! Yes, Warner Bros. wants to re-boot Superman, and it wants Christopher Nolan to sorta oversee the project, but not direct it. You'll recall that Mr. Nolan successfully re-booted Batman, the silliness of the second film notwithstanding. Money is money.

The latest movie franchise to be rebooted? Mortal Kombat. Yikes.
Posted on January 26, 2010 | No CommentsDoes the world need another Mortal Kombat movie? No, probably not, but that won't stop Hollywood from attempting to exploit a license that was last hot in 1994. Word on the street is that Warner Bros. wants to, yes, “reboot” the series. (Note: You cannot reboot a dead computer, so I don't know if it's possible to reboot a dead movie franchise.) To that end it has hired Oren Uziel to write the script. You've probably never heard of Uziel, but he wrote Shimmer Lake. You've probably never heard of that, either.

Droid experiencing external speaker problems, could be a software issue?
Posted on November 15, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, Motorola, Android
It's no reason to panic just yet, but apparently a good amount of people are having trouble with the external speaker on their Motorola Droid cutting out for no reason. It seems to be software-related, and sometimes a reboot fixes it temporarily, but it's a scary problem for people relying on the handset as an alarm clock (or, you know, to receive calls), since you never know when it will strike next. For its part it seems that Motorola is replacing handsets that have the issue, though that's no guarantee of escape from the clutches of silence. Let's hope Motorola updates us with a software patch or some other serious solution soon -- people need to hear that robotic "Droooiiid" alert sound -- and meanwhile let us know if you've been seeing a similar issue.

Theory: Danger’s Sidekick data explosion was (DUDUNT! DUDUNT!) sabotage?
Posted on October 14, 2009 | No Comments
I can't stand it, i know you planned it
Ima set it straight, this Watergate
I can't stop textin' when i'm in there
'cause your crystal ball ain't so crystal clear
So, while you sit back and wonder why
I'm missing my pics when I slide my 'Kick
Oh my god, it's a mirage
I'm tellin' y'all it's sabotage
So,so,so, so listen up 'cause you can't say nothin'
You shut me down with a push of your button
But AppleInsider knows why your data's gone
I'll tell you now I keep it on and on:
...someone with access to the servers at the datacenter must have inserted a time bomb to wipe out not just all of the data, but also all of the backup tapes, and finally, I suspect, reformatting the server hard drives so that the service itself could not be restarted with a simple reboot (and to erase any traces of the time bomb itself)... If this was an ordinary sort of failure, the service would have come back within a day, so once again, all signs point to sabotage.

Disney reveals plot and title for new Tron movie
Posted on July 10, 2009 | No CommentsA sequel for cult movie Tron was rumored to be in preparation for years now, and today Walt Disney Pictures has finally revealed a few tidbits of information about the reboot of the "virtual reality film". It will simply be called Tron (and not Tron 2, Tron 2.0 or "Tr2n") and we'll be able to see some footage very soon. Disney said they will show a 3D clip from the movie during the Comic-Con in San Diego on July 23. The poster is from the first movie, which was made back in 1982 (and has aged pretty well).

Review: Klonoa for the Wii
Posted on July 6, 2009 | No Comments
To say that Namco’s Klonoa is a throwback would be an understatement. Sure, we first saw Klonoa in 1997 for the PlayStation, but the remake for the Wii is more than just a reboot. It’s a throwback to the golden age of gaming circa 1985. It reminds me of classic side scrolling action that’s since been supplanted by 3D shooters and other abominations that I find myself mildly addicted to. And, no, it’s not a game for kids. In fact, Klonoa gets to an absurd level of difficulty that it makes me want to throw the remote at the TV and stomp out of the room knocking everything down in my path. In other words, I love it and hate it all the same.

How to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS
Posted on July 3, 2009 | No Comments
Before I go defile myself with burgers and beer I wanted to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS for you all. The process was amazingly simple. Using a Windows netbook - it doesn't work under Windows 7 - I simply installed iTunes and ran purplera1n. It took a second to reboot then it rolled through recovery mode, rebooted, and an app called Freeze appeared. Freeze then installed Cydia and all was right with the world.

What will you do if piracy as we know it goes away? (I’ll just read more)
Posted on July 2, 2009 | No CommentsLet's say you're not about to pay $30 for the Blu-ray edition of Blade Runner or Transformers, especially after you've already seen the film a dozen or more times on regular DVD. But now that The Pirate Bay, as far as I'm concerned, long gone, what are you gonna do? Will its “reboot” cause you to change your pirating ways, or will you merely move on to the next service and/or Web site?
