Posted on June 8, 2010 | No Comments
Reports of UFO sightings in offices across the US have sprung up today.
The UFOs seem to be broadcasting some kind of code. If there are any cryptanalysts out there, let's see if you can crack it:

Premature leak of the day: Sony Ericsson 5-inch Android QWERTY phone
Posted on June 4, 2010 | No Comments
Hoowee! Look at this thing! What you're looking at here is a very early prototype of an upcoming Sony Ericsson 5-inch, full-QWERTY Android phone, and I gotta say, I kinda like it.
However, 5 inches does make it a bit of a beast, moving the device squarely into too-big-to-be-a-phone-too-small-to-be-a-tablet territory... but look at that keyboard! It looks totally typeable!

Posted on April 12, 2010 | No CommentsSure, they may have just announced the Kin 1 and Kin 2 (previously known as Project Pink) — and sure, they may not have release dates or pricing for them yet. But we had the good fortune of stumbling across a Kin 1 in its crazy greeen-ish recyclable packaging, and decided to strip it [...] -
Meet the unannounced Acer Aspire 1825PT convertible tablet

This bad boy isn't exactly official yet, but that's never really mattered before, right? We hear the Acer Aspire 1825PT notebook will come with an 11.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 1.3GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. We don't know the price just yet, but in case the 1825PT is a bit too rich for you, there's always the lower-end 1825PTZ.

Surprise! HTC Legend pre-orders delivered a bit early
Posted on March 10, 2010 | No CommentsHandset manufacturers are usually pretty good about holding their tongue about specific release dates until the launch date is a sure thing, so it’s not too often that we see delays in the mobile world. What’s even more rare than a delay, however, is something shipping way earlier than expected. And yet, that seems to be [...] -
Final Fantasy I and II for iPhone get release dates
Posted on February 23, 2010 | No CommentsSince we’ve spent two posts covering Street Fighter IV, a game that will presumably be terrible to play on the iPhone, I thought it was only fair to give a bit more love to a game that should be awesome on the iPhone. Actually, two games: Final Fantasy I and II. We knew they were coming [...] -
GREEN SLIM: Casio announces pretty, eco-friendly friendly projectors
Posted on January 8, 2010 | No Comments
One of the few product announcements by a major electronics maker that's not been made at the CES: Casio has unveiled the XJ-A series, which consists of nine projectors that are not only pretty cool-looking but also eco-friendly. The company says the devices are the first to be completely mercury-free. Casio also claims their so-called GREEN SLIM projectors are the world’s first devices of their kind that are bright enough to be used in a well lit room - without using a mercury lamp.

Telus kicks off HSPA+ network with iPhone November 5th, HTC Hero, LG New Chocolate and more to follow
Posted on October 26, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Handsets, HTC, LG, Nokia, RIM, Telus Mobility, Apple
Telus already announced that it'd be launching the iPhone in November, but it's just now gotten official with an actual date: November 5th -- which just so happens to also be the day that it lights up its brand new HSPA+ network. Unfortunately for anyone hoping that a little competition would spark a price war, Telus is matching Rogers' prices across the board, starting at $99.99 for the basic 8GB iPhone 3G, and moving up to $199.99 for the 16GB 3GS, and $299.99 for the 32GB 3GS (all on a three-year contract, of course). What's more, Telus has also taken the opportunity to offer the first official confirmation of some of the other devices that'll take advantage of its new network, including the HTC Hero, the previously rumored LG New Chocolate (a.k.a BL40), the Blackberry Bold 9700, and the Nokia E71 (plus a USB stick, for good measure). No prices or release dates for any of those just yet, unfortunately, but the Hero and New Chocolate are apparently Telus exclusives.Telus kicks off HSPA+ network with iPhone November 5th, HTC Hero, LG New Chocolate and more to follow originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Mon, 26 Oct 2009 21:10:00 EST. Windows Mobile 7 aiming for Spring 2010 RTM?
Posted on October 9, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Software, Windows Mobile
Purported release dates for the first crop of WIndows Mobile 7 phones have varied in a surprisingly tight range over the past year, slipping from late '09 to the latest we've heard, late 2010, and the latest info we've got here dovetails nicely with that. What you're looking at up above is allegedly a slide out of an Office 2010 deck presented to Microsoft partners, where an updated Office Mobile suite is mentioned in passing alongside a WinMo 7 RTM date of Spring 2010. As Mary Jo Foley points out in a comment on the original post, that would put phones on shelves several months later at the earliest, which leads us back to the fact that this actually fits in very well with the Q4 2010 window we've been getting from other sources in recent memory. Though the screenshots on the slide are seemingly new, they match perfectly with the UI paradigm set by those purported WinMo 7 shots we saw nearly two flippin' years ago, which leads us to the obvious question: is the UI basically finalized? And if so, is it going to feel stale by the time it's released some three years after it first leaked?

E3 2009: Nyko’s latest accessory offerings revealed
Posted on June 2, 2009 | No Comments
We’re skimp on details until we hit the Nyko booth, but we have images of Nyko’s upcoming accessories for this year. They all seem to be pretty straightforward. So without further ado, I present to you the DSi Zoom Case, PSP Charge Grip Flex, and the Wii Type Pad Pro. There’s the Speakercom 360, but there aren’t any images of it yet. No release dates or prices have been announced, but we’re told that they are coming out this year.
