Pre-order your iPad right now
Posted on March 12, 2010 | No CommentsThis is just a friendly reminder that Apple is now accepting orders for its non-multitasking, closed OS-equipped, non-SD card slot-sporting, overpriced, sorry attempt at a tablet. You know it as the iPad. (you can’t flame the truth) -
Quick hands on with the Vizit cellular connected touchscreen photo frame
Posted on March 9, 2010 | No CommentsThe Vizit photo frame is an interesting twist on conventional photo frames. Forget about setting it up over Wi-Fi or USB—this thing connects to AT&T’s network and pulls in photos sent via e-mail, MMS, browser upload, Photobucket, and Flickr. I had a chance to play around with a beta version of the frame, so this isn’t [...] -
The Asus DR-900 ebook reader brings Wi-Fi and 3g to a 9-inch screen
Posted on March 2, 2010 | No Comments
The Kindle DX better watch its back. There's a new 9-inch ebook reader on the bus. The Asus DR-900 offers nearly everything that makes the Kindle DX special, a 9-inch E-ink screen, Wi-Fi, and optional 3G wireless, plus it has an SD card slot for further expansion over the 2GB built-in storage. But none of that matters. The Kindle DX still has something that's more important than those hardware specs. It has access to the Kindle Store.

Hot deal on a Blu-ray VHS combo player
Posted on February 15, 2010 | No Comments
I’ll be honest with you. This was an odd product to see first thing on a Monday morning. Take the futuregasm known as Blu-ray and mix it with the nostalgia of VHS and you’ve got the Panasonic DMP-BD70V. Normally selling for $200 and up, Amazon’s got it for $140 today.

CrunchDeals: $78 Magnavox Blu-ray player
Posted on February 5, 2010 | No Comments
Most Blu-ray players are resting comfortably well north of the $100 mark, but not this Magnavox. It's only $78 and it really does play Blu-ray movies. However, there's a bunch that it can't do, because, well, it's only $78.

Apple, here, this is the iPad we wanted
Posted on January 29, 2010 | No CommentsIt seems so elementary to all of us around CrunchGear’s HQ that the iPad should have had three simple features: a camera, SD card slot, and external battery indicator. I mean, the iPad missed the mark by a lot in many areas, but it’s just silly that Apple didn’t included those items. I won’t bother [...] -
Apple has a solution for the iPad’s missing SD card slot and USB port: adapters
Posted on January 27, 2010 | No Comments
Don't you worry about the iPad lacking an SD card slot and USB port. Apple has you covered with adapters! How nice of Lord Jobs. Instead of building in two industry standards, users are forced to buy extra items with their new iPad. It's not like the these standards are large and would take away from the oh-so-important design.
But it really is ridiculous that the iPad doesn't have an SD card slot built-in. USB port, fine. Apple is sticking with its massive dock connector, but an SD card slot -- or microSD card slot -- would actually open the iPad to some niche markets.

Hands-on with Kodak’s Playsport and Slice Cameras
Posted on January 8, 2010 | No CommentsKodak showed us their clever little Slice and Playsport cameras. The Slice is a touchscreen point and shoot and the SportPlay is a completely waterproof mini-camcorder. Both aren’t quite ready and will be available in the Spring of this year but both are pretty cool. The Slice has a large rear screen with touch controls. [...] -
MyFord Touch Driver Connect Technology
Posted on January 7, 2010 | No Comments
Ford announced today their move to upgrade their SYNC in-car communications system into MyFord Touch. This all-encompassing system integrates not only your cell phone or portable media device, but now your GPS, air conditioning, audio library, and much more. Multiple touch screens will replace the traditional dashboard of your car, and remember that mobile Wi-Fi hotspot we were talking about before? Seems that this technology will be moving on past MyFord to MyLincoln and MyMercury soon. Although I'm personally holding out for MyDeLorean.

Posted on January 4, 2010 | No Comments
Hello, beautiful. We knew Syabas had a new 1080p video streamer in the works, but not one that looks this fine. The Popbox seems to be a more consumer-friendly and non-nerdy Popcorn Hour with a totally reworked UI. Plus, it's a whole lot less at only $130.

Review: Nokia Booklet 3G
Posted on November 10, 2009 | No CommentsShort Version: When Nokia first announced their Netbook 3G, expectations were mixed. After all, Nokia defined the mobile phone space but they’ve hardly been good at expanding out of the handset market. My take? This is a bit too underpowered and a bit too generic to be a truly great Nokia product but, given the [...]
