Survey: Boys want to play video games with President Obama, girls with Miley Cyrus
Posted on December 10, 2009 | No CommentsRight now, if I could play a round of Multiplayer Game 2: The Sequel with anyone in the whole world, it'd probably be either Manuel Zelaya or The Situation from Jersey Shore. Zelaya because I'd could ask, “So what's it like to be the first South American leader in a really long time to be illegally ousted in a coup?” Then I'd tell The Situation, “Hey, you're terrific. Let's do 800 sit-ups then pump our fists in the air to the latest episode of A State of Trance.”

Review: Assassin’s Creed 2
Posted on December 2, 2009 | No Comments
Ubisoft needed to publish something amazing given their anemic financials thus far this year, and Assassin's Creed 2 delivered. Assassin's Creed 2 was simply put, amazing. The sequel vastly improves upon Assassin's Creed which given all the hype, was disappointing to say the least. The game plays on the strengths of Assassin's Creed, most notably the free-running, and is no longer monotonous and repetitive, like its predecessor. If you want to complete all of the quests in this game, I would suggest setting aside around 35-40 hours. It took me a little over 25 hours to complete the main quest, as well as completing about 80% of the side quests (feathers notwithstanding, there was no way I was going to look for 100 of those).
If you never played Assassin's Creed, I suggest taking the time to look online for synopses of the game so that you get a feel for what happened as Assassin's Creed 2 does a poor job of rehashing the tale. I played the first game almost a year ago so i was hazy on the plot and was a bit disappointed that I had to look up the Wikipedia page to figure out what was going on. Ubisoft could have done a better job here by having some flashbacks, or even some dialogue at the beginning of the game to help those who are new, or haven't played in a while.

Qik to come preloaded on the Samsung Omnia II
Posted on November 25, 2009 | No CommentsWe like to keep an eye on the adoption of mobile video broadcasting applications around these parts. It’s a mighty competitive space, with Qik, Kyte, Flixwagon, UStream and a number of others all taking a stab at what is essentially the same idea. While the idea as a whole has yet to really take off [...] -
Gearbox talks Borderlands 2
Posted on November 11, 2009 | No Comments
In a recent interview, Mike Neumann from Gearbox software was asked about DLC and the possibility of a Borderlands 2. And while Gearbox was pretty vague about the future of the franchise, I sincerely doubt that any game that has been selling so well that we're seeing shortages, won't have a sequel.

New Sony Ericsson Rachael UI video hits, still looks nothing like Android
Posted on October 31, 2009 | No CommentsFiled under: Software, Sony Ericsson, Android
Calling this Rachael UI an Android "skin" is like calling Windows 95 a "DOS skin," but that's not to say there's nothing to love about it. In fact, we're rather relieved that Sony Ericsson seems to be addressing Android's incredibly lackluster media playback interface, the SE "mediascape" version of which dominates this particular video -- a sequel to the first Rachael UI tease we got back in July. You know what else is great? The video title name drops the same lucious screen resolution as the DROID, 480 x 854, which spells all sorts of good things for SE's first Android entry. Video is after the break, and if that doesn't do the trick for you, the Rachael hardware is being teased over on this end of the internet.

Transformers 2 sells 7.5 million DVD & Blu-ray discs. Can’t you people find a better movie to buy?
Posted on October 29, 2009 | No Comments
This is just wrong. I'll admit, I didn't enjoy "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". I thought the plot was weak and contrived, and I was slightly offended by the dumbing down of the film (robot urination and racial stereotypes? give me a break). I realize that the original "Transformers" wasn't exactly the height of cinematic art, but it was better then the sequel.

Rumor: Verizon to extend their Buy One, Get One Free deal to the BlackBerry Storm2?
Posted on October 12, 2009 | No CommentsWe’ll be blunt, here: after its predecessor’s bumpy start, the BlackBerry Storm 2 needs a really, really smooth launch. The BlackBerry Storm launched with handful of nasty bugs and software shortcomings, nearly all of which were fixed within the first few weeks; yet to this day, most people respond to the BlackBerry Storm with “Ack! Review: The PSP Go isn’t bad, but it won’t light the world on fire
Posted on October 4, 2009 | No CommentsRumored for God knows how long, and teased for months, the Sony PSP Go is finally available at your friendly neighborhood retailer. We have one—well, I have one—and have been playing with it for a couple of days now. As such, consider this a review. Spoiler: It's not bad, but not great either.

Sprint LG Lotus 2 coming in January, will rock a touchscreen face?
Posted on October 2, 2009 | No Comments
Be honest: the first time you saw the somewhat-short, somewhat-stout LG Lotus, did you think it would be successful enough to get a sequel? Looks like it was.
One of our sources just spilled the beans on what we're tentatively calling the "Lotus 2", for lack of a better name. It's sounding a whole lot like the original so far, with just a few little tweaks thrown in for good measure.

December 17: Tron Legacy in IMAX 3D
Posted on September 22, 2009 | No CommentsWhen in doubt, make a sequel. When in doubt in the year 2009, tack on 3D. That's the mentality of Hollywood these days—“remakes” are another in thing—and it looks like will be in theaters on December 17, 2010Tron: Legacy . Considering my only knowledge of Tron comes from that one Simpsons episode, I'm not going to pretend to be excited. But maybe some of you are!

District 9 director hasn’t totally ruled out returning to Halo movie
Posted on September 12, 2009 | No CommentsNot too long ago, we gave our thoughts on the movie District 9. We did so because it was a big sci-fi movie, and that's just close enough to the tech-science nexus on which we operate that it justified a quick post. Seeing as though it's the weekend, and you really all ought to be watching La Liga or playing 360/PS3, we'll just take two minutes to highlight this interview with the movie's director, Neill Blomkamp.

Wolfenstein comes out today, but good luck finding any reviews
Posted on August 18, 2009 | No CommentsWhat's today? August 18, 2009. What comes comes out today? Wolfenstein. Bingo.

I've been told that I need to play the original Bioshock. I missed out on it when it first came out, but picked it up on Steam a while back and just never played it. I've been told it's a great game, but I haven't had the time to check it out yet. Guess I should get to it, since the hands-on videos are already coming out for the sequel.
